8th Grade Math: Today in math students were assigned their take home (stay at home) math books for the school year. It was explained to them that these books are to come back to me at the end of the year in the same condition as they are bringing them home. Students also completed a Letter to My Math Teacher worksheet in which they are given the opportunity to describe their previous math experiences and their strengths and weaknesses in math.
Assignments: If students did not finish their Letter to My Math Teacher, then it is homework for them and is due first thing on Thursday morning. Students are also to return their signed classroom and behavior expectations form by this Friday August 26th.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students completed the Letter to My Math Teacher activity in which they are given the opportunity to explain a bit about their previous math experiences and expand on their strengths and weaknesses in order to give Mr. Olsen a bit of background information on each student. Students were then assigned a numbered Flashmaster unit that they will be using each day in math class.
Assignments: Students are to return their signed classroom and behavior expectations form by this Friday August 26th.
Science: Today in science students were introduced to the concept of C.R.A.P. Contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity are the four elements of design, and we are asking all students to incorporate these elements of design into each and every project and assignment they are asked to complete throughout the school year.
Assignments: Students have been asked to bring their planners home and go over and fill out and sign pages 33 and 34 of the student handbook with their parents or guardians and return them to Mr. Olsen on Thursday morning. Students are also to have their parents sign their planners this evening as well. Students are to return their signed classroom and behavior expectations form by this Friday August 26th.
