8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before either finishing up their chapter 3 test, or beginning (or continuing) to work on the cumulative review activity. This activity is meant for students to reflect upon, and draw upon the knowledge base they have built up over the first three chapters of the text book. Today was the final day for students to work on this activity in class, part two of this cumulative test is due on Monday Dec. 13th.
Assignments: Review Homework #23 is due Friday. Cumulative Test part II is due Monday Dec. 13th.
7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters before jumping back into chapter 4, section 3. We started learning about equivalent fractions, and more specifically about what a fraction is, and how to find equivalent fractions. Today included some teacher led instruction and several examples problems for students to practice before being handed the next worksheet tomorrow.
Assignments: Review Homework #24 is due Friday.
Science: Today in science students continued learning about the digestive system. Today students finished up a set of questions concerning worms, before we transitioned into a discussion about the ethical dilemmas surrounding dissections in schools. Students acted out a skit from a frog's perspective and the rest of class in turn spent about ten minutes reflecting upon these dilemmas in their science notebooks. FOR PARENTS INFORMATION: NEXT TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY STUDENTS WILL BE DISSECTING FROGS AND WE ARE ASKING FAMILIES TO DONATE $10 IF POSSIBLE TO OFFSET THE COSTS OF ORDERING THE MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THIS ACTIVITY. If you are interested in contributing some money to our cause here in science, please make checks payable to DHMS with Aurora House Science written into the memo area of the check. THANK YOU in advance from Mr. Olsen and Mr. White, as well as our students!!
