8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 3.   We continued our conversation about solving inequalities using multiplication and division.   Students reviewed the rules associated with solving these inequalities, before spending about 35 minutes of class time working on the 3.5 worksheet.  For the last 20 minutes of class, Mr. Olsen introduced section 3.6 to the students, on solving multi-step inequalities.  We reviewed the rules for adding and subtracting and multiplying and dividing when working with inequalities.  Students then practiced several examples before running out of time.

Assignments:   Students should be completing the 3.5 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.  Review Homework #24 is due on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, we reviewed all of the different data displays introduced throughout chapter 3.  We talked about each display and why you might use that display when graphing a data set.  Next, we continued our talk about choosing appropriate data displays when given a data set and asked to display the data in a graph.  After a conversation on biased and unbiased questions, Mr. Olsen assigned the 3.6 worksheet for the students.

Assignments:   Students should be completing the 3.6 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.  Review Homework #24 is due on Wednesday.

Science:  Today in science, students continued working with the "How well do I know these vocabulary words?" activity.  We had a discussion about physical and chemical changes of matter and how to classify matter into mixtures, compounds, or pure substances.  Students were then given about 20 minutes of class time to complete the reading assignment from yesterday.  Students finished reading the chapter 1 section 1 reading and answered the review questions at the end.

Assignments:   None.

FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/31, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
