8th Grade Math: Today in
math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, students
jumped back into chapter 3. We reviewed the rules for adding and
subtracting and multiplying and dividing when working with
inequalities. Students then practiced several examples before Mr. Olsen assigned 16 problems from the text book to complete in the last half hour of class time. The chapter 3 test will be on Thursday of this week.
Assignments: Students
should be completing the 16 problems assigned in class if they did not finish in the
class time provided.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students
began class by using their flashmasters. Next, we reviewed all of the
different data displays introduced throughout chapter 3. We talked
about each display and why you might use that display when graphing a
data set. Next, students were assigned a cumulative review covering chapters 1, 2, 3 and asked to complete problems 1-47 odds. Students were given about 45 minutes of class time to complete the assignment.
Assignments:
Students should be completing the problems assigned in class if they did not finish
in the class time provided.
Science:
Today in science, students completed a Do Now to begin class. Students were then introduced to the Gummy Bear Lab. Students were handed a worksheet and all of the materials needed to calculate the mass, volume, and density of the gummy before adding 50 mL of water to their cup, which will sit overnight. Students were asked to write out an hypothesis before beginning their experiment.
Assignments: None.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/31,
the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will
no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit
for the work they do, when it is due.
