8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and today we reviewed dividing fractions and reciprocals, before transitioning into section seven on using the LCD to solve equations and inequalities.  Students learned some tips on how to clear fractions and decimals when solving equations and inequalities.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the 5.7 worksheet.

Assignments:    Review homework #11 is due Friday.  Students should be completing the 5.7 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, we transitioned into chapter 5.  We began our discussion by reviewing the rules for multiplying fractions and how to cross cancel when working with fractions.  We then transitioned into dividing fractions. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the 5.4 worksheet and given about 20 minutes of class time to work on the assignment.

Assignments:  Review homework #11 is due Friday.  Students should be completing the 5.4 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began learning about ancient models of the world.  Students reviewed the creation myths introduced to them yesterday and we then transitioned into our activity.  Students are creating a myth explaining how they would describe how the sun moves from the western sky back to the east before morning.

Assignments:     Students should be completing their rough draft of their creation myth for class on Thursday if they did not finish in the class time provided.

FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/31, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
