7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students were introduced to section 4.5 on multiplying and dividing exponents. When multiplying powers, if they have the same base, you add the exponents. When dividing powers with the same base, you subtract the exponents. Students were assigned the 4.5 worksheet as homework.
Assignments: Completing Review Homework #19 on Study Island is due by the end of the day on Wednesday. The section 4.5 worksheet is due on Wednesday in class.
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Next, students were introduced to Study Island. This is a supplemental website designed to let students continue working on math concepts outside of the classroom. Mr. Olsen is using Study Island as a part of class, in that instead of paper review homework twice a week, students will now be assigned a Review Assignment on Study Island and they will be expected to complete the assignment on the same schedule as a paper review homework.
Assignments: Students have two assignments active on Study Island and both are due by the end of school on Friday.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Students then participated in an activity where they worked with a partner to make an outline of a human body, and then they labelled and drew all the different parts, systems, bones, etc, that they already know about the body.
Assignments: None.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
