7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students reviewed the rules associated with multiplying and dividing powers.  Students practiced several examples of dividing or multiplying exponents, including some challenge problems designed to help students connect with the rules (properties).  Students were then introduced to negative and zero exponents.  We worked through some examples that displayed patterns, in the hope that students began to make connections to the rules and the actual problems they are being asked to solve.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned problems from their at home text books, page 201-202 #1-31, to be due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Students were assigned problems from their at home text books, page 201-202 #1-31, to be due Wednesday in class.  Review Homework #24 is due Wednesday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Today students continued working with simplifying expressions.  Many students did not complete their homework on Monday evening, thus todays class period was dedicated to students actually competing the assignment of section 2.3.

Assignments:  Review homework #25 is due Wednesday in class.  The section 2.3 worksheet (odds) is due Wednesday in class if they did not complete the work in the class time provided.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to the periodic table.  Students began class by completing the Think, Write Pair share activity from yesterday's class, before we began to read about the history of the periodic table.  Students were responsible for answering several guiding questions as we read about the organization of the elements of the periodic table.

Assignments:  Students were assigned the section 3.1 worksheet on Organizing the Elements, to be due on Thursday in class.
