8th Grade Math: Today in
math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, students
graded the 3.1 worksheet they completed for homework. At this point, we realized as a group that we needed more time to work on the concept of solving two step equations. Thus, students were assigned about 15 more problems to practice these skills.
Assignments:
Review Homework #18 is due Friday.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students
began class by using their flashmasters. Next, students jumped into chapter 3 and continued the conversation regarding the mean,
median, mode and range of a data set. Today activity had students
using an almanac to look up the presidents of the U.S., and their age at
election. Once they have their data set, students will calculate the
mean, median, mode and range for the presidents ages.
Assignments: Review Homework #18 is due Friday.
Science:
Today in science, students continued talking about the importance of learning vocabulary. As we transition into the chemistry unit, it is important to introduce the students to the new vocabulary they will encounter, and we are working on some scientific root words, including prefixes and suffixes, that the students will come across throughout the unit. Today students began making flashcards to help them learn the key vocabulary terms that Mr. Olsen has selected for them to learn moving forward.
Assignments: Students
should be completing their flashcards for the assigned vocabulary words.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/31,
the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will
no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit
for the work they do, when it is due.
