7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students reviewed the pythagorean theorem and how it works (with right triangles) and we graded the homework from over the weekend. We had a fire drill mid class, thus, we ran out of time as we jumped back into section six on finding the surface area of pyramids and cones.  

Assignments:  Review homework #25 on Study Island is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.     

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 4.  Students began class reviewing the rules for multiplying and dividing powers as well as how to work with negative and zero exponents. Students were then introduced to scientific notation, standard form, and product form.  

Assignments:  Review HW #19 is due Wednesday in class.                 

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued talking about and learning about bridge designs.  Today we had a guest speaker, Elmer Marx, an engineer with AKDOT, who shared some valuable information concerning what an engineer does and how they design bridges.  Students were assigned some questions to answer from todays presentation, as well as having to sketch at least four more truss designs for class on Tuesday.    

Assignments:  Students should be completing four more truss sketches by Tuesday.
