8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day before we transitioned into integers. Mr. Olsen led students through several definitions, including absolute value and opposites, and helped students through several example problems. The section 1.4 worksheet was handed out and students were given about 25 minutes of class time to complete the assignment with Mr. Olsen available to help students as needed.
Assignments: Complete the section 1.4 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided. Review Homework #4 is due on Wednesday.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters. We then moved into the order of operations. We reviewed what the students already know about the order of operations, before Mr. Olsen handed out the section 1.4 worksheet and gave students 25 minutes of class time to complete the assignment.
Assignments: Students are to complete the section 1.4 worksheet if they did not finish in the time provided in class. Review Homework #4 is due on Wednesday.
Science: Today in science students participated in a group discussion concerning the molecular movements of atoms when energy (heat) is applied to a solid. We were referring to the lab students conducted in class last Friday, where we put "wet" ice and dry ice in a stainless steel pan and applied heat to it. The concept Mr. Olsen was hoping for students to pick up on has to do with the fact that molecules move faster when energy is applied.
Assignments: None.
