8th Grade Math: Today in
math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, students
were introduced to chapter 7 on fractions and percents. Students began using fractions to find the percent of a number. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the 7.1 worksheet.
Assignments: Review homework #12 is due Wednesday. Students should be completing the 7.1
worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students
began class by using their flashmasters. Next, students jumped back into chapter 5. Today we began talking about measuring in customary units. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students did some problems out of the book, and once they were checked off by the teacher, they were able to start their homework, the 5.5 worksheet.
Assignments: Review homework #12 is due Wednesday. Students should be completing the 5.5 worksheet if they did not complete the assignment in the class time provided.
Science:
Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Next, students
began sharing what they know about our planet Earth. Students completed a worksheet by answering the questions themselves, before we jumped into group work. Students shared their thoughts from the worksheet with their group and defended their responses. We ended class with a group discussion concerning each question from the worksheet.
Assignments: None.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/31,
the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will
no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit
for the work they do, when it is due.
