8th Grade Math: Today in pre-algebra, students began class with the problem of the day. Next, we transitioned into surface area and volume of cylinders and triangular prisms. After a class discussion on finding these values, students were given some examples to calculate the surface area and volume of each shape.
Assignments: Students have a Fraction Finding Mission project due this FRIDAY! There will also be a quiz on Friday.
7th Grade Math: Today in math, students began class with their flashmasters. We then transitioned into finding the surface area of a cuboid. We discussed what surface area is and spent some time calculating some examples. Students were then handed a net of a cuboid and they were asked to calculate the surface area of that shape.
Assignments: None.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Next, students were introduced to the next project, the Planet Research Project. Students were broken into two or three person groups, and were given a brief overview of the project. Once students were in their groups, each group then assigned individual responsibilities amongst the group members.
Assignments: None.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/31, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
