8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Students then transitioned into chapter 2. We began talking about the commutative, associative and identity properties of addition and multiplication. Students defined the six properties in words, and we began working on identifying each property in action. Students also learned about the additive identity (0), and the multiplicative identity (1) and how to identify each in a math problem. Students were then assigned some homework problems out of the text book, page 66 #1-15, to be due Tuesday in class.
Assignments: Review HW #11 is due Wednesday in class. The homework, page 66 #1-15 is due Tuesday in class.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Students then transitioned into the text book. Students reviewed some key vocabulary, and we reviewed PEMDAS, before we began talking about the differences between expressions and equations. After some teacher led instruction and a few examples, we ran out of class time!
Assignments: Review HW #11 is due Wednesday in class.
Science: Students began class with the Do Now. Next, students sat with their local ecology groups, and continued working on their group Taku Watershed Poster project. Within their groups, students assigned each other responsibilities, and todays class period was dedicated to completing tasks and putting themselves in a position to finalized their posters Tuesday in class. The poster is officially due at the end of class on Tuesday October 7, 2014.
