8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Students then transitioned into chapter 2. We continued talking about the commutative, associative and identity properties of addition and multiplication. Students reviewed the definitions of these properties and identifying them in use, before began talking about the distributive property. Students will have a quiz on Friday on the identification and use of the six properties we learned in chapter 2 section 1.
Assignments: Review HW #12 is due Friday in class.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Students then transitioned into the text book. We continued talking about the differences between expressions and equations, as well as how to use the distance formula, before we began talking about area and perimeter. Students reviewed the formulas for finding both the area and perimeter of rectangles and squares, and after some teacher led instruction and a few examples, students were assigned the section 1.6 worksheet, to be due Friday in class.
Assignments: Review HW #12 is due Friday in class. The homework, the section 1.6 worksheet, is due Friday in class.
Science: Students began class with the Do Now. Next, students transitioned into the text book, From Bacteria to Plants. Students spent todays class period reviewing the 14 key vocabulary words, before we completed the reading of section 1.1 on What is Life?, together as a group, answering several essential questions as we read.
Assignments: Students were handed a worksheet from section 1.1 on What is Life?, and it is due Friday in class.
