7th Grade Math:  Today in pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were introduced to solving for the volume of pyramids and cones.  Students took notes on the formulas for volume, and participated in solving several examples of both pyramids and cones.  The sections 10.8 worksheet was assigned as homework, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:   Students should be completing the section 10.8 worksheet if they did not complete it in the class time allotted.  Students should also be spending 15 minutes on Study Island by Wednesday as well.

8th Grade Math:  Today in pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students were introduced to multiplying fractions.  After a quick review of adding and subtracting like and unlike fractions, as well as mixed numbers with different denominators, students took some notes on multiplying fractions.  We did several examples together as a group, and students were also introduced to the idea of cross-canceling in order to simplify fractions before actually multiplying the numerators and denominators.

Assignments:   Students should be spending about 15 minutes on the Study Island website working with multiplying fractions before class on Wednesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Mr. Olsen's students blocked for science today, and we spent about two hours outside at our Local Ecology Plots with a local scientist Dr. Dave D'Amore who shared some of his expertise with our students about the local areas we have spent the year exploring.

Assignments:   The Bikini Bottom Genetics Project is officially due by Wednesday, April 24th.  Students will not receive any more class time to work on their projects.  Students can expect to spend Tuesday outside collecting garbage with some visitors from SAGA during class in honor of Earth day.
