7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students were introduced to writing and solving proportions. Students were reminded that proportions are a comparison between two parts of a whole, and we practiced finding the missing value when working with two given proportions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 6.2 worksheet as homework.

Assignments:  Review Homework #9 is due by Friday in class on the Study Island website.  The section 6.2 WS is due Thursday in class.
Students were also introduced to a month long project last week, The Fraction Finding Mission.  Students can be continuing to work on this project on their down time throughout the month.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with a problem of the day.  We then continued reviewed solving equations using the distributive property.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students continued working with solving equations with parentheses and like terms.

Assignments:  Review Homework #7 is due Friday in class.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Our science and social studies classes are blocking today and tomorrow (Thursday).  Mr. Sheufelt's class had a two hour block in science today (Wednesday).  Today students were learning about the significance of oxidation numbers, and how to calculate them.  Students were then introduced to ionic and covalent bonds.  After some teacher led instruction, and several examples of both ionic and covalent bonds, students were asked to complete a worksheet working out several ionic and covalent bonding situations for class on Friday.

Assignments:  Students should be coming into class on Friday with the back side of the Ionic/Covalent Bonding worksheet completed.
