8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. We then continued our discussion of surface area of prisms. Today we talked about the formulas and the process of solving for the surface area of rectangular prisms, cylinders and triangular prisms. Students then spent the rest of the hour practicing their skills on a worksheet (10.5 WS).

Assignments: Review Homework #17 is due on Friday. Complete the 10.5 worksheet (odds only) for Friday if they did not finish in the time provided in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters, before we picked up our prism activity where students are working in groups of four and they are constructing rectangular prisms as a team. Once they have built three perfect prisms, they are to calculate the surface area and volume of each.

Assignments: Review HW #18 is due Friday.

Science: Today in science students began class with a quiz covering our lightbulb unit we have been working on, before transitioning into our next project on alternative energy. We had a class discussion concerning all of the alternative energies we know about before watching a quick five minute video about energy sources.

Assignments: Students should continue keeping track of how long a light is using electricity in either their kitchen or bathroom.
