8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. We then continued our discussion of surface area of rectangular prisms, did a few practice problems of solving for the surface area of rectangular prisms, before Mr. Olsen brought students around to solving for the surface area of a triangular prism. Mr. Olsen ended class by introducing the formula for solving a surface area problem for a cylinder.

Assignments: Review Homework #16 is due on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters, before we transitioned into solving for the volume of a rectangular prism. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were handed a worksheet (12.5) to practice their new found skills.

Assignments: Review HW #17 is due Wednesday. Complete the 12.5 worksheet if they did not finish in the time provided.

Science: Today in science students began class by writing a reflection of their thoughts concerning the upcoming SBA exams. We then broke into groups and students worked together to solve practice SBA questions as a team. Two seventh graders and two eighth graders worked together through discussions to determine the best answer for each question.

Assignments: Students should continue keeping track of how long a light is using electricity in either their kitchen or bathroom.
