8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day before moving back into the Order of Operations. I reviewed the information we went over yesterday in class, before completing a few example problems that we solved together as a class. Once I felt that the students were ready to try some problems on their own, I checked off on their work before handing out section 1.3 worksheet. Students had about fifteen minutes of class time to work on the homework.

Assignments: Review Homework #2 is due on Friday at the beginning of class. Students are also to finish section 1.3 worksheet if they did not finish in the time allotted in class.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with a Problem of the Day before moving on to grading the section 1.2 worksheet together as a class. We then moved into section 1.3 of the text book and began talking about Powers and Exponents. I shared some definitions of key vocabulary words associated with exponents as well as the rules of using powers and exponents.

Assignments: Review Homework #3 is due first thing on Friday morning.

Science: Today in science we went over the directions and guidelines for the Bubble Gum Challenge Lab, as well as the scoring guide or rubric I handed out to the students to clearly define my expectations over the next week and a half, as well as the final poster activity. After the beginning discussion, students broke into their groups and began brainstorming ideas for the design of their experiments, including the procedures list for each experiment. My hopes are that tomorrow students will be able to begin the fun part of the activity.

Assignments: I have asked students to please bring into class tomorrow a pack or two of their favorite gum to aide in our experiments within the Bubble Gum Challenge Lab.
