8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before we graded the 5.7 worksheet students completed as homework last evening. Students were then given the choice of how they spent the rest of the hour. Our chapter 5 test is scheduled for this coming Friday. Thus, students were allowed to begin the review process on their own. Students were allowed to spruce up their notes that they will be allowed to use on their test on Friday. They were also given the option of completing the chapter review or just complete extra practice problems from chapter 5 with Mr. Olsen available to offer help when needed.
Assignments: Students should be preparing for the upcoming chapter 5 test that is scheduled for this Friday.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters, before we picked up where we left off yesterday and continued working with angles. Students spent most of the hour learning and practicing classifying angles based on their given measures. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were handed the 10.1 worksheet and asked to complete the worksheet for Thursday.
Assignments: Review HW #11 is due Friday.
Science: Today in science students took the first 15 minutes of class completing a free write based on the Genetics Unit we just completed. Students were asked to write at least two paragraphs of four to five sentences in length, commenting on what they liked, didn't like, what they would improve, and what they enjoyed from the unit. We then transitioned into the next subject matter of magnetism. We began with a class discussion about what we already know about magnets, before students were asked to spend a bit of time reading about magnets and magnetic fields and then completing a worksheet documenting their newfound knowledge.
Assignments: Complete the magnetism worksheet for Thursday. Also, students were asked to generate a list of all things magnetic around their home for Thursday.
