8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. We then graded yesterdays homework, the section 7.3 worksheet. Students then had a chance to ask any questions and get help from Mr. Olsen before the class took a quiz on solving percent equations.
Assignments: Review Homework #15 is due on Friday.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters, before we transitioned into solving area problems of circles. This topic is a key concept for seventh graders on the upcoming SBA tests. Students were introduced to key vocabulary, and several useful formulas used to solve for the radius, diameter, circumference and area of any circle.
Assignments: Review HW #16 is due Friday.
Science: Today in science students began class with a discussion and powerpoint presentation from Mr. Olsen concerning several key differences and the make up of incandescent and compact fluorscent lightbulbs. Students were then broken into five different table groups and each group was given a different news article and students were asked to read the article, write down at least three key facts as well as some pros and cons of each article that each group then shared with the rest of the class.
Assignments: Each student was asked to go home this evening and count all of the light fixtures in their home for our lab on Thursday.
