8th Grade Math: Today in
pre-algebra, students began class with the problem of the day. Next,
students were introduced to Fractals. Students joined up with Mr.
White's students and we finished watching a film on fractals, and how they
are widespread in life. Next, students began mapping a selected coastline using a compass, and using smaller and smaller units for each measurement.
Assignments: None.
7th Grade Math: Today in math, students began class using their flashmasters. Next, students were introduced to our final activity of the year. Students are building the "perfect shapes." Students continued filling in a table and calculating the sum of the interior angles, as well as the angle measure of each interior angle.
Assignments: Students can be working on their "Perfect Shapes" while at home. They are due at the beginning of class on Friday.
Science:
Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Next, students evaluated their own work as well as their partners within their rocket group. Groups then finalized their rockets in preparation for launch on Thursday and Friday. Students were then given time to work on their Paper Airplane Projects.
Assignments: Students should be working on their Paper Airplane projects on their free time as there will not be too much more class time available to work on it. Friday will be the last day of class time dedicated to the Paper Airplane Project. It will be due on Friday May 25th.
Parents: The Aurora House will be having their end of the year picnic on Tuesday May 29th. I am sending a permission slip home with students TODAY, and am asking for any supplies and donations for the picnic, as well as the signed permission form, returned to Mr. Olsen by Friday MAY 25th!! Mr. Olsen's homebase are in charge of bringing a bag of chips and/or any other snacks students may enjoy. We are asking each student to contribute $1 to help cover the cost of the buses. Thank You!
