7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students completed the chapter 5 test. We then transitioned into chapter 6 on ratios and unit rates. Students defined what a ratio is and learned about the three different ways to display a ratio.
Assignments: Study Island Review Homework #27 is due by the end of the day Friday.
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Next, we moved back into section 3 of chapter 3 on solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign. Students worked through several different example problems with Mr. Olsen, before we ran out of class time.
Assignments: Review Homework #29 on Study Island is due on Friday.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Students spent the class period defining key vocabulary related to the discovery of cells and microscopes. We then read section one of chapter one from the Cells and Heredity textbook as a class. Students were handed a brief worksheet to complete as homework, due on Friday in class.
Assignments: Students have the Discovering Cells worksheet to complete by class time on Friday.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
