7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students transitioned back into chapter 6.  Today, we graded our 6.2 worksheet that was homework, before students continued working with proportions.  Students were introduced to the idea of cross products and how to solve proportions using the cross products property.  Students were then assigned the 6.3 worksheet as homework.

Assignments:   Students were also assigned the 6.3 worksheet for homework  due Friday in class.   Students will be taking the math MAPs test tomorrow (Thursday) in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with some Do Now problems.  Next, we moved into inequalities and section 4 of chapter 3.  Students defined inequalities, solutions to inequalities and equivalent inequalities, before having a class discussion on how to graph a solution to an inequality.

Assignments:  Students will be taking the math MAPs test tomorrow (Thursday) in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent the class period making an analogy between a cell and our school.  Building on our analogy of a cell is like a factory because....that we talked about yesterday in class.  Students listed the 13 different organelles of a cell, and compared them through analogy, to a similar part of our school.

Assignments:    Students have the Discovering Cells analogy worksheet to complete by class time on Thursday.

FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
