7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. Students then jumped back into chapter 10 section one on solving problems involving triangles. We completed taking notes on several different example problems, before students were assigned the 10.1 worksheet as homework. Students were given about 15 minutes of class time to begin working on the assignment, before we went down to the computer lab and students were given about 20 minutes to log into their Study Island accounts to begin working with their individualized learning programs developed from their MAPs RIT scores.
Assignments: Students are to complete the 10.1 worksheet for class on Thursday.
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. We then graded the 4.6 worksheet that was homework, before we jumped into taking notes on section 4.7 on scientific notation. Students were introduced to standard form, product form, and scientific notation. We practiced a few problems together, before we all went down to the computer lab, where students were given about 20 minutes of class time to begin working with their individualized learning programs developed from the MAPs RIT scores.
Assignments: None.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Students participated in a class survey today, where they were trying to determine whether physical traits in individuals are controlled with dominant or recessive alleles. Students then answered several questions to gauge their understanding of dominant and recessive genes.
Assignments: Students should be completing their class surveys they began in class if they did not complete it in class.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
