7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, we transitioned back into chapter 7. Today students learned to use equations to solve percent problems with the percent equation. After several examples and some teacher instruction, students were assigned the 7.4 worksheet, to be due Thursday in class.
Assignments: The section 7.4 worksheet is due on Thursday in class.
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Today we jumped back in to section 3 on finding equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions and monomials. Students learned how to find equivalent fractions by either multiplying or dividing both the numerator and denominator of a fraction by the same nonzero number. Students also learned about putting fractions into simplest form by reducing the fractions by dividing out the GCF of the numerator and denominator. Students were then assigned the 4.3 worksheet for homework and given about 15 minutes of class time to get started.
Assignments: The section 4.3 worksheet will be due Thursday in class.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. We then transitioned back into cell division. Today students took notes on a powerpoint detailing the six steps within the cell division process. Students learned the names of each stage or phase, as well as the events occurring during each stage or phase of the cell division process.
Assignments: None.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
