Tuesday March 5, 2013

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next,  we transitioned back into chapter 7.  Today students learned to use decimals to find the percent of a number.  After several examples and some teacher instruction, students were assigned the 7.3 worksheet, to be due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:   The section 7.3 worksheet is due on Wednesday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Today we jumped  back in to section 2 on finding the greatest common factor of two or more monomials.  Students learned how to factor out the number part of a monomial down to its prime factorization, before listing all of the variable parts of the monomial.  They then circled the factors that are in common, including variables, before finding the GCF.    Students were assigned some book work as homework, p. 185 #12-19, to be due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  The book work from page 185 #12-19 are due Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then joined up with their Local Ecology group members, and the groups went outside to our Local Ecology plots to record air and soil temperatures as well as to make several observations of the changes that have taken place since our last visits to the plots.

Assignments:    None.

FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
