7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were given a line graph that they glued into the inside cover of their math notebooks, where they will periodically update their math grade from the grades Mr. Olsen posts within the classroom (by student number).  We then jumped into the textbook.  Today students were introduced to (or reviewed) variables and variable expressions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 1.1 worksheet as homework.  

Assignments:  The section 1.1 worksheet is due Wednesday in class.  Review Homework #3 is due Thursday.  

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, we picked back up on our discussion on place value.  We reviewed the place value of whole numbers, before jumping into decimal place values.  We talked about the differences between the names of place value of whole numbers and place values of decimal numbers.  

Assignments:  None.    

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were given the remaining time in class to begin continue working on the rough drafts of the Scientific Summer project.  Today, students should have been focusing on the second paragraph, where they are linking their chosen summer activity to a branch of science, and they attempting to explain how science is used during that activity.  The project will be due on Friday September 6th.  

Assignments:  Students should be coming to class on Wednesday with both paragraphs of the Scientific Summer assignment completed.  Students should also be coming to class with a picture of the activity they have chosen to write about.
