7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, we moved into section 6 of chapter 6. Students were introduced to the idea of scale, and how it relates to maps and drawings. We then practiced calculating unknown distances using the given scales presented on a map or drawing. Students were assigned the 6.6 worksheet for homework.
Assignments: Study Island Review Homework #30 is due Wednesday by the end of the day. Section 6.6 worksheet is due on Tuesday in class.
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Next, we jumped back into section 4 of chapter 3. Students continued working on solving and graphing solutions to inequalities. Today we worked on solving inequalities using multiplication and division. Students were reminded of how to solve one and two step equations with equal signs, and then substituted a inequality in for the equal sign and solved and graphed their solutions. Students were then assigned the 3.5 worksheet (odds only) and given about 15 minutes of class time to begin working on the assignment.
Assignments: Study Island Review Homework #33 is due Wednesday by the end of the day. Section 3.5 worksheet (odds Only) is due Tuesday in class.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Today, students made observations and inferences based on the three methods that materials can move in and out of cells. Students observed five different situations demonstrating diffusion, osmosis, and active transport of materials and related them to how cells utilize those three methods of transport.
Assignments: Students should be completing the Cell in its Environment worksheet handed out as homework. It will be due on Tuesday/Wednesday. We will be blocking science and social studies on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
