7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next,  we transitioned into chapter 7.  Today students learned to use fractions to find the percent of a number.  After several examples and some teacher instruction, students were assigned the 7.1 worksheet, to be due Friday in class.

Assignments:   Study Island Review Homework #32 is due by the end of the day Friday (3/1).  The section 7.1 worksheet is due on Friday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Today we jumped in to section 2 on finding the greatest common factor of two or more numbers.  Students learned about two different methods to find a GCF, including listing all the factors of the numbers in question, and finding the prime factorization of each of the numbers and multiplying together the common factors.  Students were assigned several problems from their at home text books, pp. 179 #1-27 (odds), to be due on Friday in class.

Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #35 is due by the end of the day Friday (3/1).  Students were also assigned a two part assignment, Solutions First and Inequality Quilt,  to be due on Friday of this week (3/1).   The book work from page 179 #1-27 (odds) are due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into the poster/diagram of how the processes of photosynthesis and respiration work together.  (Compare and contrast the two).  Students will also be responsible for writing a four (4) paragraph essay on the two processes mentioned above as well as detailing how they work together.  Both of these tasks will be due on Monday March 4th.

Assignments:    The photosynthesis and respiration diagrams and the four paragraph essay will both be due on Monday March 4th.

FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
