Monday February 4, 2013

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, we reviewed ratios and proportions, before starting a lesson on basic geometry concepts.  Students were introduced to several new vocabulary words related to geometric shapes, including lines, points, rays and segments.  We talked about angles, and similar and congruent shapes and segments.

Assignments:   Study Island Review Homework #29 is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, we jumped back into section 4 of chapter 3.  Students discussed the different inequality symbols, and when and how to use each, before we practiced building inequalities out of word problems.  We also practiced developing inequality equations just by looking at a number line with a graphed solution.

Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #31 is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Today, students participated in a basic microscope lab, where students discussed the differences between simple and compound microscopes and were then given the opportunity to look at cells of different organisms through simple and compound microscopes.

Assignments:    None.

FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
