7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, we moved into section 4 of chapter 6 on similar and congruent figures. Students reviewed the definitions of congruent, corresponding and similar and how they relate to shapes, before practicing identifying similar and congruent shapes, sides and angles. Students were then assigned the 6.4 worksheet for homework, and give about 15 minutes of class time to begin working on the assignment.
Assignments: Section 6.4 worksheet is due on Thursday in class.
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Next, we jumped back into section 4 of chapter 3. Students continued working on solving and graphing solutions to inequalities. Today we worked on solving inequalities using addition and subtraction, and graphing the solutions on number lines. After some teacher led instruction, students were assigned the 3.4 worksheet and given about 30 minutes of class time to work on the assignment.
Assignments: Section 3.4 worksheet is due on Thursday in class.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Today, students participated in a lab designed for students to determine whether the foods that they tested contained starches or lipids by using the "brown paper" test or the "iodine test".
Assignments: Students were asked to bring in a snack that is a carbohydrate, lipid or protein for a lab in class tomorrow.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
