7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, we moved into probability. Students were discussed their results from yesterdays concept activity, before we jumped into section 7 in the book. Students practiced finding the probability of an event using the given equations, as well as finding experimental probability of a given event.
Assignments: Students were assigned the front side of the section 6.7 worksheet, to be due on Wednesday the 20th.
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Next, we jumped back into section 6 of chapter 3. Today we continued working on solving multi step inequalities. Students continued practicing solving one step inequalities and we slowly began integrating a second step into the equations.
Assignments: Students were assigned problems from their at home textbooks, p. 151 # 10-21 to be due on Wednesday Feb. 20th.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. We blocked our afternoon in science and social studies, and Mr. Olsen's class spent two hours in science. Students today reflected on the six demonstrations presented to them Monday in class, demonstrating the three methods of cellular material transport we have been learning about (diffusion, osmosis, and active transport). Today, students viewed the film "Osmosis Jones" and made some connections with the concepts we have been talking about.
Assignments: Students have been assigned to write a 1-2 page summary paper of the film "Osmosis Jones" that will be due on Wednesday February 20th. Students were also offered an extension/extra credit assignment over break, called An EggCELLent Experiment, also to be due on Wednesday February 20th.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
