7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, we moved into probability.  Students spent some time defining eight key vocabulary words, before we jumped into a conceptual activity where students were handed a dixie cup and asked to flip the cup the exact same way 30 times and to record the frequency of how it landed in a frequency table.  From there, students were asked several questions they could answer based on the results of their experiment.  Students were asked to complete the experiment at home as homework, and to come to class on Wednesday with results to discuss.

Assignments:   Study Island Review Homework #30 is due Wednesday by the end of the day.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, we jumped back into section 4 of chapter 3.  Students continued working on solving and graphing solutions to inequalities.  Today we worked on solving multi step inequalities.  Students continued practicing solving one step inequalities and we slowly began integrating a second step into the equations.

Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #33 is due Wednesday by the end of the day.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  We blocked our afternoon in science and social studies, and Mr. Sheufelt's class spent two hours with Mr. Olsen.  Students today reflected on the six demonstrations presented to them yesterday in class, demonstrating the three methods of cellular material transport we have been learning about (diffusion, osmosis, and active transport).  Today, students viewed the film "Osmosis Jones" and made some connections with the concepts we have been talking about.

Assignments:    Students have been assigned to write a 1-2 page summary paper of the film "Osmosis Jones" that will be due on Wednesday February 20th.

FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
