7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, we transitioned back into our next unit, a Fraction Finding Mission. Students are responsible for memorizing 16 fractions as well as their decimal and percentage equivalents. Students will be tested on their study skills and knowledge of these assigned equivalents on March 14th. Today students created a foldable out of paper to help them in their quest to memorize these 16 fractions and their equivalents.
Assignments: Study Island Review Homework #32 is due by the end of the day Friday (3/1).
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Today we jumped back in to section 1 on the prime factorization of numbers. Students learned about monomials in class today and we factored several examples of monomials together, before students were assigned the 4.1 worksheet as homework. Students were then given about 25 minutes of class time down in the computer lab in order for them to work on their Study Island assignments.
Assignments: Study Island Review Homework #35 is due by the end of the day Friday (3/1). Students were also assigned a two part assignment, Solutions First and Inequality Quilt, to be due on Friday of this week (3/1). The section 4.1 worksheet is due on Thursday in class.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Students were introduced to our next project, where they will be creating a poster/diagram of how the processes of photosynthesis and respiration work together. (Compare and contrast the two). Students will also be responsible for writing a four (4) paragraph essay on the two processes mentioned above as well as detailing how they work together. Both of these tasks will be due on Monday March 4th.
Assignments: The photosynthesis and respiration diagrams and the four paragraph essay will both be due on Monday March 4th.
FYI: Parents! Starting on Monday (10/22, the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will no longer accept late work from our students. Students will get credit for the work they do, when it is due.
