Science:
Today in science, students read up to six different news articles and completed a Venn Diagram answering the question "Has human activity caused the world's climate to change over the past 100 years?" Students are to pull five facts supporting the above question and five facts that don't support the question. And finally four facts where both sides agree.

Assignments: Review Homework #25 is due Wednesday.

Science: Today in science students continued working in their groups while participating in the Stabilization Wedges Game. Students came up with and agreed upon seven different strategies that each will save one billion tons of carbon emissions per year, in order to save a total of seven billion tons of carbon emissions over the course of a year. Each group then presented their findings to their classmates, and explained why they chose the strategies they did choose and the challenges associated with each.

Assignments: None.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students were introduced to the concepts of theoretical and experimental probabilities. Mr. Olsen reviewed the key vocabulary and led students through several examples before handing out the section 6.7 worksheet and offered students 25 minutes of class time to complete the assignment.

Assignments: Review Homework #23 is due Friday. Section 6.7 worksheet is due tomorrow (Thursday).

7th Grade Math: Today in math students continued working on their birdhouse designs. Students finished up their nets of the actual sizes and shapes needed to transfer the measurements over to the 1x6x8 foot boards. Several student groups began the cutting process today. All other groups should be ready to cut their boards tomorrow.

Assignments: Review Homework #24 is due Friday.

Science: Today in science students were introduced to the Stabilization Wedges Game. This game hopes to bring the carbon emission problem facing our world today to the forefront of our societies focus. Students are broken in groups of four, and in their groups they will read about and discuss and then choose seven of the fifteen strategies presented to them about ways to reduce carbon emissions.

Assignments: None.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students were introduced to the concepts of theoretical and experimental probabilities. Mr. Olsen led students through several definitions and key vocabulary words before leading students through a few example problems.

Assignments: Review Homework #22 is due Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students continued working on their birdhouse designs. Students finished up their nets of the actual sizes and shapes needed to transfer the measurements over to the 1x6x8 foot boards.

Assignments: Review Homework #23 is due Wednesday.

Science: Today in science, we finished up "An Inconvenient Truth" along with several class discussions throughout the film, clarifying and expanding upon key points brought up in the film along the way.

8th Grade Math: Today was the final working day in math on their isometric dream house. Students are progressing through the Isometric Dream House assignment, and the project was due at the end of the day today.

Assignments: Review Homework #22 is due Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students continued working on their birdhouse designs. Mr. White and Mr. Olsen talked with the students about the dimensions required for the chickadees around the school. Due to the constraints of the purchased wood, students will only be creating bird houses for chickadees, based on the dimensions provided through the ADF&G website. Students are busy creating nets of the exact dimensions, in inches, which will help them when lining out their actual wooden board.

Assignments: Review Homework #23 is due Wednesday.

Science: Today in science, we jumped back into "An Inconvenient Truth" and will finish up the film on Tuesday.

Assignments: None.

8th Grade Math: Today was another working day in math. Students are progressing through the Isometric Dream House assignment, and by the end of class today, students were completing the calculations for finding the surface area and volume of their structures.

Assignments: Review Homework #21 is due Friday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students continued working on their birdhouse designs. Mr. White and Mr. Olsen talked with the students about the dimensions required for the different nesting birds around the school, and gave students a net of a birdhouse and asked students to fill in the proper measurements on the net we handed them. Next, students were asked to design their own blueprint of their birdhouse and by the end of class on Friday students will have built a birdhouse out of construction paper using the blueprints and measurements they put together at the beginning of class.
