Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were continuing to work with chapter 8 and graphing polynomials.  Students reviewed how to graph the parent function of a given quadratic equation and how that function is being transformed by different a, b and c values.  Next, students continued to work with even and odd functions and how to identify those functions as well as how to graph a function of the form f(x) = a(x - h)².  Students were then assigned some homework from the textbook page 446 #5-25 odds, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were completing their fraction/decimal/percent flashcards and began practicing the memorization process.

Students are to learn and memorize 17 commonly used fractions and their decimal and percentage equivalents by April 19th.  We will spend some class time each week helping students with strategies to help them memorize this information.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #44 is due on Friday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students then continued learning about photosynthesis.  Students spent todays class period completing their packet helping them describe the relationship between chloroplasts and mitochondria within plant cells.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were continuing to work with chapter 8 and graphing polynomials.  Students reviewed how to graph the parent function of a given quadratic equation and how that function is being transformed by different a, b and c values.  Next, students were introduced to even and odd functions and how to identify those functions.  We watched an online video on Khan Academy on even and odd functions before students were assigned the explorations from the practice workbook, pages 260-261, to be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students then continued learning about photosynthesis.  Students began class by reviewing the photosynthesis formula, and what raw materials are needed for the process to occur.  Students then watched a few videos to help solidify the concept before completing the section 2.1 worksheet on Photosynthesis to end class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #43 is due on Wednesday in class.  Practice workbook pages 83-84 are due on Tuesday in class if students did not finish in the class time provided.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were reading to learn about photosynthesis.  Students began class by defining several key vocabulary words, before we read chapter 2 section 1 on Photosynthesis together as a class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 8 and graphing polynomials.   Next, students reviewed how to graph the parent function of a given quadratic equation.  Students were then graphing the parent function that is being transformed by different a values.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the practice workbook, pages 248-249, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were reviewing how to solve one and two step equations as well as identifying terms, like terms, coefficients and constants of a given expression or equation.  Students were then given 40 minutes of class time to complete a chapter 3 review activity, in preparation for the chapter 3 test on Wednesday.

Assignments:  Review Homework #42 is due on Wednesday in class.  The CHAPTER 3 TEST is scheduled for Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued filling in their March Mammal Madness brackets.  Today, students were researching and filling in the "Waterfalls" bracket.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 8 and graphing polynomials.  Students reviewed graphing some linear equations to get their minds back on how we graph a function.   Next, students were learning how to graph the parent function of a given quadratic equation.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 423 #1-4, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were reviewing how to solve one and two step equations as well as identifying terms, like terms, coefficients and constants of a given expression or equation.  Students were then given 20 minutes of class time to complete practice workbook page 64, which will be due on Tuesday in class. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #42 is due on Wednesday in class.  Practice workbook page 64 is due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students helped grade our chapter 1 tests.  Next, students were introduced to the March Mammal Madness activity.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were continuing to work with chapter 7 and polynomials.  Next, students reviewed our work with special patterns of polynomials before also reviewing to being able recognize the difference of two squares pattern and how to factor perfect square polynomials.  Next, students were factoring polynomials by grouping and solving polynomial equations.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 407 #8; 10; 15-23 odds; 28; 36, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments: Students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 407 #8; 10; 15-23 odds; 28; 36, to be due on Wednesday in class.  Students can expect the chapter 7 test on Thursday of this week.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students continued learning to solve equations using inverse operations.  Today, students were introduced to solving two-step algebraic equations.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #41 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students spent the hour by completing the chapter 1 review activity from the textbook as well as creating a notecard that they will be able to use on the test on Wednesday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were continuing to work with chapter 7 and polynomials.  Next, students reviewed our work with special patterns of polynomials, the zero-product property and factoring quadratics completely.  Today students were learning to recognize the difference of two squares pattern and how to factor perfect square polynomials.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 401 #2-8, 9-21 odds and 25-29 odds, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments: Students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 401 #2-8, 9-21 odds and 25-29 odds, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students continued learning to solve equations using inverse operations.  Today, students were writing verbal sentences as equations and solving.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned an in class worksheet and given the remaining 20 minutes of class time to work on it.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #41 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students spent the hour by reviewing the vocabulary words associated with cells and what we have been learning about in chapter 1 of the Cells and Heredity Textbook.  Students can expect a test on chapter 1 on Wednesday of this week.
