Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Students reviewed the process of solving polynomial equations and factoring polynomials with their G.C.F.'s.  Students then began factoring polynomials into two binomials.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned problems from the text book,
page 389 #8, 14, 22-28 evens, 29, 31 and 40 to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students jumped into chapter 6 and jumped back into comparing and ordering fractions, decimals and percents.  After several examples and activities where students were given opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of the process.  Students were then assigned the section 6.2 Practice A worksheet, which is due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:   Review HW #39 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were then assigned the section 6.2 Practice A worksheet, which is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  We then transitioned into our Local Ecology Groups and groups went outside to our established plots in order to collect our monthly data.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Students reviewed the process of solving polynomial equations, before we began factoring polynomials with their G.C.F.'s.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were given class time to begin working on the section 7.4 Practice B worksheet, which will be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Students were assigned the section 7.4 Practice B worksheet, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students jumped into chapter 6 and jumped back into comparing and ordering fractions, decimals and percents.  After several examples and activities where students were given opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of the process.  Students were then assigned workbook page 120, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:   Review HW #39 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were then assigned workbook page 120, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  We then transitioned into chapter 2 and learning about the process of photosynthesis.  We defined some key vocabulary words, before beginning the reading of chapter 2 section 1.  

Students can expect to be outside for science class on Tuesday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Students went over the quiz results from last week, and were reminded of the rules for adding, subtracting and multiplying polynomials.  Students were then given class time to practice all three operations involving polynomials.  The polynomial practice worksheet we began in class today will be due on Friday in class.

Assignments:  Students were assigned a polynomial practice worksheet that will be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students jumped into chapter 6 and continued working with converting decimals to percents and percents into decimals.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 6.1 Practice A worksheet, which will be due on Friday in class.

Assignments:  The section 6.1 Practice A worksheet will be due on Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students from Ms. Villanueva's class took a field trip to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center for some structured activities.  Mr. Olsen's home base will be taking the field trip on Friday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Students graded the homework to begin with, before they were introduced to the concept of using the sum and or the difference patterns of binomials.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned and given class time to begin working on the section 7.3 Practice A worksheet, which will be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students took the chapter 5 test.

Assignments:  Review Homework #38 is due Friday in class.  Workbook pages 111 & 112 are due on Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students were given class time to review for the chapter 1 test on Friday covering Cells and their functions.  Students have been given the opportunity to create a notecard that they will be able to use on the test on Friday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Students graded the homework to begin with, before they were introduced to the concept of binomial square patterns.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems from the textbook, page 375 # 3-10, 11, 13, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students were then jumped back into chapter 5.  Today's class period was dedicated to providing students with the opportunity to prepare and review for the chapter 5 test that will happen on Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students were blocking with our social studies teachers and we held a Taku House wide Greek Olympics activity all afternoon.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Students began by reviewing the simplification of expressions through combining like terms, as well as finding GCFs of a set of integers.  Next, students continued working with multiplying binomials. Students were reminded of the four methods of multiplying binomials, including the distributive method, the vertical method, the table method and the FOIL method.  Students were then given class time to complete workbook pages 212 & 213, which will be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  The workbook pages 212 & 213 will be due on Wednesday in class.  

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students were then jumped back into the concept of direct variation.  We went over the answers to the homework from Monday evening, before reviewing the concept of how to tell if a given set of values for x and y may vary directly or to put it another way, whether the relationship is proportional or not.  Students were then given class time to begin working on the section 5.6 Practice A worksheet, which will be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #37 is due Wednesday in class.  The section 5.6 Practice A worksheet will be due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then peer reviewed a class mates Osmosis Jones summary essay, before beginning the test preparations for the chapter 1 test scheduled for Friday of this week.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then were given all of class time to continue working on their Osmosis Jones summary essay.  The essay will be due in class on Tuesday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 7.  Students began by reviewing the simplification of expressions through combining like terms, as well as finding GCFs of a set of integers.  Next, students were introduced to monomials, binomials and polynomials.  Students were tasked with finding the degree of a given monomial or polynomial, before rearranging given expressions into standard form.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 362 #4-20, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students were then introduced to the concept of direct variation.  Students worked through the activities in the practice workbook for section 5.6 (pages 107-109).  After some guided instruction, students were given class time to work with their table groups to work through activities 1 & 2.  Workbook pages 108-109 will be due on Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then finished watching the film entitled "Osmosis Jones."  Once the film ended, students informed of the summary essay of the film, and were given a guiding worksheet and class time to begin brainstorming ideas of what they should include in their 1 - 2 page summary essay that will be due at the beginning of class on Tuesday February 14, 2017.  

Assignments: Students can be working on the rough drafts of the Osmosis Jones summary essay for class on Friday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students took the chapter 6 test.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students were then continued learning to how to find the slope of a line.  Students worked through a worksheet that had them identifying points on the coordinate plane, before using the slope formula to calculate the slope of the line formed by plotting the coordinates on a graph.

Assignments:  Review Homework #36 is due Friday in class. The slope worksheet we began in class is due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then watching a film entitled "Osmosis Jones."  Students picked up where we left off on Tuesday. We will finish the film on Thursday in class, before jumping into writing rough drafts of a one page essay connecting the film to our learning objectives.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students partnered up with a classmate, and they participated in a lab that is helping students explore exponential growth and decay functions.  The lab report will be due at the end of class on Tuesday.  The chapter 6 test is scheduled for Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Students can be completing the lab report they began in class today, in order to use class time on Tuesday to prepare for the chapter 6 test on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students were then continued learning to how to find the slope of a line.  Students worked through a worksheet that had them identifying points on the coordinate plane, before plotting several points themselves in order to create an image on the coordinate plane.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #35 is due Wednesday in class. The coordinate plane worksheet we began in class is due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then defining key vocabulary words.  Next, students were reading to learn about The Cell in its Environment.   Students were also asked to bring in a snack item to science class on Tuesday in order to participate in a lab exploration.  

Assignments: The section 1.4 worksheet on The Cell in its Environment will be due on Tuesday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students were given class time to complete some activities involving graphing calculators.  The first activity had students working through some basic calculations, before attempting to use the calculator to graph some functions.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students were then continued learning to how to find the slope of a line.  Students sat through some teacher led instruction on finding the slope of a line, including working through several examples, before they were assigned workbook page 106 for homework, to be due on Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then defining key vocabulary words.  Next, students were reading to learn about Chemical Compounds in Cells.

Assignments:  Students were assigned some homework problems from the textbook, page 329 #3-12, 13-17 odds, 38-40, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students were then continued learning to how to find the slope of a line.  Students were given class time to continue working through the activities on workbook pages 103-105. These corrected workbook pages will be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then created a study guide to help them remember the parts of a cell and their functions.
