7th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with the problem of the day, before transitioning into the days activities.  Students continued taking notes on the coordinate plane, completing several examples before getting some time to complete the 1.8 worksheet.  We will be having our Chapter 1 TEST on MONDAY October 1st!  Study hard over your four day weekend!

Assignments:   The section 1.8 worksheet is due on Monday.  The chapter 1 test will also be on MONDAY!    

8th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 1, and today we covered the order of operations to solve expressions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems that all students completed, they were assigned the 1.3 worksheet for next Monday.  


Assignments:   Section 1.3 worksheet is due on Monday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the do now, before we had a class discussion on what makes a good question, and how it may be testable.  Students were then asked to read a section from our Bacteria To Plants textbook, and answer the review questions given to them on a worksheet.   If students had any time left over in the class period, they could begin identifying the plant samples they collected from their group plots these last two days.

Assignments:  The What is Life? review worksheet will be due on Monday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with the problem of the day, before transitioning into the days activities.  Students graphed their current grades, including the classes mean and median, before we graded the 1.7 worksheet on multiplying and dividing integers.  Next, students began taking Cornell notes on the coordinate plane.   

Assignments:   Review Homework #6 is due Wednesday.       

8th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students were handed back their chapter 1 quizzes, and students were given the rest of the hour make corrections on the quiz.  



Assignments:  Review Homework #6 is due Wednesday.  Section 1.2 worksheet is due on Tuesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the do now, before Mr. Olsen's class transitioned into our groups and went outside to establish our one meter square plots, and to begin documenting the plants within the plots and any other observations needed during our 2 hour block.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with the problem of the day, before transitioning into the days activities.  Students were introduced to section 1.7, on multiplying and dividing integers.  Students completed an activity designed to lead them to the rules of multiplying and dividing integers, before practicing several examples utilizing the aforementioned rules.  

Assignments:   Review Homework #6 is due Wednesday.  Section 1.7 worksheet is due Tuesday.     

8th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students reviewed the vocabulary of exponents and practiced several examples of using powers and evaluating expressions with exponents.  Students were then given about 10 minutes of class time to begin working on the 1.2 worksheet.     

Assignments:  Review Homework #6 is due Wednesday.  Section 1.2 worksheet is due on Tuesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the do now, before we transitioned into our groups and went outside to establish our one meter square plots, and to begin documenting the plants within the plots and any other observations needed during our 2 hour block.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with the problem of the day, before transitioning into the days activities.  We graded the 1.6 worksheet that was homework on Thursday night.   Next, students took a quiz on the first five sections of chapter 1.

Assignments:   None    

8th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students took a quiz on the first two sections of chapter 1.    

Assignments:  None 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the do now, before we transitioned into an Inquiry Activity designed to help students learn how to develop questions that can be measured or tested.  Can students identify questions that can be tested through scientific investigations.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with the problem of the day, before transitioning into the days activities.  We graded the 1.4 worksheet that was homework on Tuesday night.  Next, we jumped into section 1.5 on adding integers and took notes in Cornell fashion.    

Assignments:   Review Homework #5 is due Friday.  Section 1.5 worksheet is also due on Thursday.    

8th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began with the do now.  We transitioned back into section 1.1 from the book and continued taking Cornell notes on writing and evaluating variable expressions.  We reviewed key vocabulary, defined the terms and practiced several examples problems, before students were assigned the 1.1 worksheet for homework.    

Assignments:  Review Homework #5 is due Friday.   

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the do now, before groups went out to their selected locations (wetlands, old growth, or new growth) to claim their groups plot.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began class with the problem of the day, before transitioning into the days activities.  We graded the 1.3 worksheet that was homework on Monday night.  Next, we jumped into section 1.4 on comparing and ordering integers and took notes in Cornell fashion.    

Assignments:   Review Homework #4 is due Wednesday.  Section 1.4 worksheet is also due on Wednesday.    

8th Grade Math:  Today in math, students began with the do now.  We transitioned back into section 1.1 from the book and continued taking Cornell notes on writing and evaluating variable expressions.  We identified key vocabulary, defined the terms and practiced several examples problems.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the do now, before being introduced to the next project, the Local Ecology Project.  This project will be a school year long group project, where assigned groups of students will be evaluating and observing a one meter square plot of land surrounding our school.  Students were broken into groups and then within their groups, they assigned themselves roles and named their groups.

Science:  Today in science, students picked up with the plant identification activity that we started on Friday.  Students had collected three different specimens of local plants, and they are identifying these plants based on the information they collected with the specimen from several different plant identification books.   Today, students went outside around the school one more time and collected one last local plant specimen, using the knowledge they have collected throughout this process, and they will identify the new specimen on Friday in class.  There will be no science on Thursday as students will take the third and final MAPS test in the afternoon.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day before transitioning into the text book.  Students were introduced to some key vocabulary today, and we continued taking notes on section 1 in the book in cornell note fashion.  

Assignments:   Review Homework #3 is due Friday.   

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day before transitioning back into taking notes in cornell fashion.  Today's topic was addition and students were introduced to several strategies to help them add up larger numbers.   

Assignments:  Review Homework #3 is due Friday.    

Science:  Today in science students began with the Do Now.  Next, students shared their descriptive paragraphs about their leaf with another table group, and students attempted to identify the plant based on the descriptive paragraph they read.  Next students were given a plant identification book and asked to flip through the guide and try to key out the plant based on the information presented to them.  We will be heading outside for class tomorrow (Thursday) in order for students to collect three different plants species that they will key out in the classroom on Friday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day before taking their first quiz of the year!

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day before taking their first quiz of the year.   

Assignments:  None.  

Science:  Today in science students began with the Do Now.  Then students were to hand in their completed Scientific Summer projects.  Next, our class went outside and collected a leaf that we then brought back into the classroom.  Students were asked to write a three to five sentence descriptive paragraph, describing the plant they chose as if nobody had seen it before.   

Assignments:  Students should coming to class tomorrow with a written descriptive paragraph about their leaf.  They should bring their leaf to class tomorrow as well.
