Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped back into chapter 2 and working with inequalities. After grading homework, students were given the remaining time in class to begin or continue preparing for the chapter 2 test, scheduled for Friday in class.

Assignments: Students can expect the chapter 2 test on Friday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students began working with decimal operations.  After some teacher led instruction on dividing with decimals, students were working on a dividing decimals worksheet.  

Assignments:  Review HW #8 is due on Friday in class.  The dividing decimals worksheet will be due on Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students got into their Local Ecology Project groups, and we went outside to take some collect any other plant specimens needed from their plots and to begin writing up a detailed plot location narrative.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped back into chapter 2 and working with inequalities. Students reviewed writing, graphing and solving linear inequalities using inverse operations.  Next, students continued working with absolute value inequalities.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 91 #1; 2; 3-17odds; 20; 23-27 odds, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students began working with decimal operations.  After some teacher led instruction on multiplying with decimals, students continued working on the multiplying decimals worksheet.  We will be completing this multiplying decimals worksheet in class on Thursday.

Science:  Today in science, students got into their Local Ecology Project groups, and we went outside to take some temperature data and to collect some plant samples that we hope to identify soon.

Science:  Today in science, students continued working on identifying the elements of design or presentation guidelines.  After a brief review of Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity, and what they are and how they are used, students were given the remaining time in class to complete the C.R.A.P. Practice activity.  

Assignments:  If students did not complete the C.R.A.P. Practice activity in the class time provided, it will be due at the beginning of class on Wednesday.

Students were writing, graphing and solving linear inequalities using inverse operations.  Next, students were introduced to writing, graphing and solving compound inequalities.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book, pages 85 & 86 #1; 2; 6; 9-12; 18-20; 23; 24; 28-31, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students began working with decimal operations.  After some teacher led instruction on adding and subtracting with decimals, students completed two worksheets, one on adding decimals and one on subtracting decimals.  

Assignments:  Review HW #7 is due on Wednesday in class.  The adding and subtracting decimals worksheets are due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students were working on identifying the elements of design or presentation guidelines.  After a brief introduction and review of Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity, and what they are and how they are used, students were handed a CRAP Practice packet and given 25 minutes of class time to begin working on finding good and bad examples of each element of design.  This assignment will be due at the end of class on Tuesday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped back into chapter 2 and working with inequalities. Students were writing, graphing and solving linear inequalities using inverse operations.  After we graded our homework from Wednesday evening, students were assigned some work from the practice workbook pages 47 & 48 (section 2.5) as homework, to be due on Friday in class.

Students can expect a quiz on sections 2.1-2.4 on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students continued working with multiplication of whole numbers.  Students took a few notes on some tricks to help them when dividing whole numbers, including the Divide; Multiply; Subtract; then Bring down rules of long division.  Students were then given class time to complete the single and double digit division worksheet that we started on Wednesday.

Assignments:  Review HW #6 is due on Friday in class.  The division worksheet handed out in class is due on Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students from Mr. Olsen's home base blocked with Mr. Olsen in science.  Students were introduced to our year long project, the Local Ecology Project.  Students were broken into groups and each group proceeded to establish a one-meter square plot in the woods behind the school, off the main trail, and we will return to take measurements of our established plots once a month for the rest of the school year.

Science:  Today in science, students continued learning about the difference between observation and inference in science.  Today, students were outside on the trail, and they were responsible for collecting a leaf of a plant they do not know, and making observations about that plant as they picked it.  Students will need their plant and observations for class on Tuesday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students graded the homework from Wednesday.  Next, students were handed a chapter 1 review sheet and given about 30 minutes of class time to begin prepping for the chapter test on Friday.

Assignments: The chapter 1 Test is on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students were working with multiplication of whole numbers.  Students were completing a multiplication table of facts from 1 to 12.  

Assignments:  The subtraction worksheet is due on Thursday in class.  Review HW #4 is due on Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students continued learning about the difference between observation and inference in science.  After some teacher led instruction, students completed a descriptive narrative about an object in the classroom, and had other classmates read their narrative and attempt to guess the object.

Assignments:   Students were asked to complete a descriptive narrative about a common object found in any home, without giving the object away in their writing.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students moved into section 1.5 and rearranging formulas to find missing values.  Today students were solving literal equations for a variable.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 40/41, #4; 5; 7; 10; 12; 14; 17; 20; 32 to be due on Thursday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 1 Test on Friday of this week.

Science:  Today in science, students were learning about the difference between observation and inference in science.  Students were also learning about the difference between qualitative and quantitative observations.  After some teacher led instruction, students completed a qualitative and quantitative observation worksheet, before we ended class with a fun computer based activity.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students were reviewing Cornell notes, and how to use them.  Next, we reviewed Ancient Number Systems.  Students were then reviewing place value and how to identify the place value of both whole numbers as well as decimals.

Science:  Today in science, students had a special guest speaker.  Dr. Donald Wuebbles, a  physicist/chemist and scientist from the University of Illinois, came in and spoke with our sciences classes about the science behind climate change and the worlds responses and potential impacts from this growing global problem.

Assignments:   Students will be given all of class on Friday to complete their Scientific Summer projects.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students were reviewing cornell notes, and how to use them.  Next, we began talking about and taking notes on Ancient Number Systems.  Mr. Olsen introduced or reminded students of four different number systems and students took some notes on the important details related to each number system.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #2 is due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were given class time to continue working on their Scientific Summer paragraphs (#1 & 2).  Students were given class time and access to computers in order to type and print their paragraphs as well as a photo or picture they will use on their final product.  Students were also peer editing each others work as well.  Thursday will be the last in class working day for this project.  The project is due at the beginning of class on Friday.

Assignments:   Students should be coming into class on Thursday with both paragraphs typed and printed along with a picture.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students were re-introduced to Cornell Notes and the strategies needed for students to find success in a school setting.  We will pick back up on this topic in class on Wednesday.
