Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Today students were reviewing translating and reflecting linear functions.  Students then jumped back into section 6 on horizontal and vertical stretches and shrinks.  We reviewed the format and presentation of the functions and how to identify the type of transformation, before taking some class time to build a foldable in an effort to provide students another opportunity to keep track of all the details involved with transforming linear functions.   After some teacher led instruction and a few examples, students were assigned some homework from the practice workbook, page 89,  to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began math class with the Do Now and a problem of the day.  Next, students continued working on the chapter 2 test.  We will finish the test on Friday in class.

Assignments:  Students were handed a Halloween-themed EXTRA CREDIT packet that will be due on Monday November 4th.  

Science:  No science class today as we celebrated Halloween with some fun, games and a movie before a school wide assembly to close the day.  

Assignments: Students can be working on their digital posters of the layers of the atmosphere and the layers of the Earth.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then  continuing to learn about the layers of the Atmosphere as well as the layers of the Earth.  A google classroom assignment was created with directions on how to create a digital poster for each of the layers of the atmosphere and the layers of the Earth and instructions on what is expected to be included on each poster.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Today students were reviewing graphing functions as well as using intercepts to graph functions.  Students then jumped back into section 6 on translating and reflecting the parent function y = x.  Students practiced identifying and describing horizontal and vertical translations, before we started learning about reflecting functions on the x and y axes.  After some teacher led instruction and a few examples, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page151 #13-16, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began math class with the Do Now and a problem of the day.  Next, students were reviewing their knowledge of adding and subtracting and multiplying and dividing fractions (and mixed numbers) and working with decimals.  Today students were preparing for the chapter 2 test scheduled for Wednesday by working towards completing the chapter review activities on page 71-73 #1-26 in the text book.  

Students can expect the chapter 2 test on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #16 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were continuing to drawing their own watershed.  Students were logging into google classroom and clicking on an interactive map with layers that show all the watersheds and subwatersheds of the Juneau region.  Students were locating their home on the map and then drawing the watershed that includes their home on graph paper including all of the waterways contained in that subwatershed.  Students will be transferring their rough drafts from graph paper onto white paper and adding color on their final products.
