8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period jumping back into chapter 2 and began learning about proportions by using ratios.  After a brief introduction to the essential question of how can you use proportions in everyday life, students were set free to work on activities 1 & 2 on pages 37-39 of their practice workbooks, to be due on Tuesday in class. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #23 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook pages 37-39 are due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students continued working with the relationships between the interior and exterior of polygons.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were set free to finalize their eight perfect shapes, to be due Tuesday in class.  
 
Assignments:  Review Homework #23 is due Wednesday in class.  Students should be completing their eight perfect shapes by Tuesday.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period reading to learn about the basics of matter.  Students were introduced to the ideas of atoms and molecules and how they are similar and different.  

Assignments:  Students should be completing the section 1.3 worksheet on Particles of Matter for class on Tuesday.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period making connections between the three basic ways to transform an image within the coordinate plane.  After some teacher led instruction and several clarifying examples, students were assigned page 36 of the practice workbook, to be due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #22 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook page 36 is due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students continued working with the relationships between the interior and exterior of polygons.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples of working with the algebraic formula used to calculate the measure of an exterior angle, students were assigned the next project, where they are identifying different polygons by side lengths and finding the perimeter of each given shape.
 
Assignments:  Review Homework #22 is due Wednesday in class.  Students should be completing the identifying polygons worksheet that is due Wednesday in class. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period calculating the density of a 3 musketeers and a snickers candy bar.  Students worked together to find the mass of each bar, and then they calculated the volume of each.  Next, students calculated the density of each candy bar, before performing the water test to see if each bar was more dense then water. 

Assignments:  Students should be completing the "How sweet it is" density lab worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period making connections between the three basic ways to transform an image within the coordinate plane.  After being introduced to the idea of rotations and how to describe a rotation within the coordinate plane, students were given class time to complete the activities on pages 33-35 of the practice workbook, to be due Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #22 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook pages 33-35 are due Tuesday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period making connections between the activities we spent the past two days completing, and being able to identify reflections within the coordinate plane.  Students spent most of class practicing and reviewing for the quiz on Friday.

Assignments:  Review Homework #21 is due Friday in class.  

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students were introduced to learning about the relationships between the interior and exterior angles of polygons.  Students were  given class time and assigned activities # 1 & 2 on pages 59-61 of the practice workbook, to be due Friday in class.
 
Assignments:  Review Homework #21 is due Thursday in class.  Pages 59-61 of the practice workbook are due Friday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period reviewing the different volume formulas used for calculate volume for a given shape.  We then finished reading section 2 on measuring matter.  Students were introduced to the density formula, and how to use a triple beam balance.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period making connections between the activities we spent the past two days completing, and being able to identify reflections within the coordinate plane.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned page 32 of the practice workbook to be due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students continued learning about the relationships between the interior and exterior angles of triangles.  After some teacher led instruction and an introduction to the algebraic equations to solve for interior and exterior angles of triangles and several example problems, students were assigned page 58 of the practice workbook as well as the section 3.2 Puzzle worksheet, to be due Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period defining some key vocabulary related to measuring matter before we began reading section 2 of chapter 1 on Measuring Matter.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period completing activities #1-3 on pages 29-31 of the practice workbook.  Students are learning about reflections within the coordinate plane.  Today students were introduced to frieze patterns and whether they may be a reflection when folded horizontally, vertically or both.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #20 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook pages 29-31 are due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students continued learning about the relationships between the interior and exterior angles of triangles.  Students spent the class period working through activities 3 & 4 in the practice workbook, both being due Wednesday in class.
 
Assignments:  Review Homework #20 is due Wednesday in class.  Activities 3 & 4 on pages 56 and 57 of the practice workbook are due Wednesday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period continuing our discussion of the differences between physical and chemical changes of substances.  Students then participated in a Mixing Mixtures lab.  Students spent the class period working in groups identifying heterogeneous and homogenous mixtures and completing the worksheet.

Assignments:  Students should be completing their lab report if they did not finish in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period by engaging in a lesson concerning translations within the coordinate plane.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned page 28 of the practice workbook, to be due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students were learning about the relationships between the interior and exterior angles of triangles.  Students spent the class period working through activities 1 & 2 in the practice workbook, both being due Tuesday in class.
 
Assignments:  Review Homework #20 is due Wednesday in class.  Activities 1 & 2 on pages 55 and 56 of the practice workbook are due Tuesday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period discussing the difference between physical and chemical changes of substances.  Students build Venn diagrams to compare the two types of changes, as well as brainstorming as many examples of each type of change as possible individually.  

Assignments:  Students were asked to come to class on Tuesday with at least two more examples of physical and chemical changes.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period by learning about tessellations.  Students continued working with the concept of tessellations and students spent the class period creating a unique tessellation of their own.  Students spent todays class period creating the third and final unique tessellation, this time creating a rotating tessellation.  All in all, students have created three different tessellations, a translation, a reflection and today's final creation of a rotation.  

Assignments:  Students should be bringing in their own full page rotation tessellation to class on Friday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students were learning about parallel lines and transversals.  After a brief introduction and a few warmup problems, students were asked to complete Activities 1-3 on pages 51 through 53 of the practice workbook for class on Friday.  Students were also asked to compete the Fair Game Review activity on pages 49 and 50 of the workbook for class on Friday as well.  
 
Assignments:  Activities 1-3 on pages 51 through 53 of the practice workbook and the Fair Game Review activity on pages 49 and 50 of the workbook are due Friday in class.   

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period reading about characteristic properties of matter, including physical and chemical properties and how to identify them about a specific type of matter.  The section 1.1 worksheet on Describing Matter is due Friday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period by learning about tessellations.  Students continued working with the concept of tessellations and students spent the class period creating a unique tessellation of their own.  Students spent todays class period coloring their unique tessellation, before beginning a new shape template that will need to be rotated when creating the next tessellation.  

Assignments:  Review HW #19 is due Friday in class.  Students should be bringing in their own colored full page tessellation to class on Friday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then spent the class period taking the chapter 2 test.
 
Assignments:  Review HW #19 is due Friday in class.   

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the chemistry textbook.  We had a class discussion about how reading a science textbook is different from reading a novel for pleasure.  We talked about the different tools available in a textbook that are usually not provided in a novel, such as a glossary, an index and tables and charts presenting information in different ways.  Students then worked their way through a Think, Write Pair Share activity concerning plants and chemicals.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period by learning about tessellations.  Students continued working with the concept of tessellations and students spent the class period creating a unique tessellation of their own.  Students created a 2.5" x 3" square shape that they were then asked to utilize in order to create a full page tessellation for homework.  

Assignments:  Review HW #19 is due Friday in class.  Students should be bringing in their own full page tessellation to class on Thursday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then spent the class period participating in review activities in order for them to prepare themselves for the chapter 2 test on Thursday.  
 
Assignments:  Review HW #19 is due Friday in class.  The chapter 2 test is scheduled for Thursday.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then given about 15 minutes of class time to review their vocabulary words, before all students took the science vocabulary root word test.  

Assignments:  Students should be completing a chemistry/element word search for class on Thursday if they did not finish in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period by learning about tessellations.  Students continued working with the concept of tessellations and students spent about 20 minutes working on activity 2 in their practice workbooks.  Students were then asked to create their own tessellation and bring it into class on Wednesday.

Assignments:  Review HW #18 is due Wednesday in class.  Students should be bringing in their own tessellation to class on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued to work with chapter 2 and Transformations.  We then jumped into section 7 of chapter 2 on dilations within the coordinate plane.  Students reviewed the different transformations we have covered thus far in chapter 2, before we began a conversation about enlarging or shrinking an image within the coordinate plane.  Students then were given class time to begin working on activity 3 on page 47 of the practice workbook.  Page 48 of the workbook is due Wednesday in class.  
 
Assignments:  Review HW #18 is due Wednesday in class.  Page 48 of the workbook is due Wednesday in class. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then given class time to continue reviewing their 30 vocabulary words all students have to commit to memory for the vocabulary test scheduled for Wednesday this week.  The class then participated in a review activity called Slap Happy, where students competed in groups of 3 or 4 to collect the most words in a given amount of time.  The winner of each table group will receive an extra credit point on the test on Wednesday. 

Assignments:  Students should be memorizing the 30 vocabulary words as they will be tested on these on Wednesday November 4th.
