Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped back into chapter 3, section 6.  Today students reviewed translations and reflections of linear equations and continued working with horizontal and vertical stretches and shrinks.  Today, students were describing linear functions with multiple transformations.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the practice workbook page 90-92, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math, students began class with the Do Now, and then working on their Flashmaster activities or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were working on their adding and subtracting integers by participating in a playing card game of "War" with a class mate.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #15 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students were finalizing the Google slides activity within Mr. Olsen's Google Classroom site, on researching and learning about different types of good and bad bacteria. Students created a slide show on different types of bacteria and answering several prompting questions related to the assignment on Google classroom.  

Assignments:  This slide show assignment is due at the end of the day on Tuesday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students continued subtracting integers.  Students reviewed that in order to use the rules of adding integers when subtracting, they need to rewrite the subtraction problem as an addition problem by adding the opposite of the second term.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 1.3 Practice A worksheet, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #14 is due Wednesday in class.  The section 1.3 Practice A worksheet is due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began talking about good and bad bacteria, and how they influence our daily lives.  We will begin a multi-day lab on Tuesday in class, so today's class period was about preparation for the lab.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were introduced to subtracting integers.  Students learned that in order to use the rules of adding integers when subtracting, they need to rewrite the subtraction problem as an addition problem by adding the opposite of the second term.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned practice workbook page 14 as homework, to be due on Monday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students got into their Local Ecology Project groups, and they were given class time to continue finalize their assigned paragraph within their group.  Once students have a hand written paragraph, students then found a student from another group and peer edited each other's work.  Once the peer edit process was complete, students were free get on Google Docs and type their paragraphs and share it with their group members.

This project will be due at the beginning of class on Wednesday October 17.

Science:  Today in science, students got into their Local Ecology Project groups, and they were given class time to continue researching their assigned portion of the project, and to begin writing the rough draft of the paragraphs for each of the three parts of the project.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now and their flashmaster.  Next, students went down to the library and checked out their math textbooks and practice workbooks.  When we got back to class, students were given class time to complete a text book scavenger hunt, designed to help students learn how to navigate the text and familiarize themselves with the text.  

Assignments:  Review HW #11 is due on Wednesday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students got into their Local Ecology Project groups, and they were introduced to the Taku Watershed Poster Project.  After a brief introduction to what is to be expected of each group, student groups were handed a packet of research information that each group then divided amongst themselves in order to begin researching their assigned portion of the project.

Science:  Today in science, students got into their Local Ecology Project groups, and the groups went outside to attempt to find another groups plot from the other science class using the groups plot location narrative and hand drawn map.

The chapter 2 RE-Test is scheduled for this Wednesday at lunch and after school.
