Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were working with chapter 6 and reviewing the rules of and use of exponents.  Today, after grading our homework from the weekend, students were continuing to work with exponential functions.  Students reviewed exponential growth and decay functions, before we began talking about compound interest.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 6.4 Practice A  to be due on Friday in class.

Assignments: Students were assigned the section 6.4 Practice A  to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were making corrections to their chapter 2 tests.  

Assignments:  Review HW #34 is due on Friday in class.  The chapter 2 test corrections will be due on Thursday in class if students are interested in improving their test grade.

Science:  Students began science class today with the Do Now.  Next, students continued to learn about cell organelles, including the functions of specific organelles as well as identifying the locations of each organelle within a cell.  Students were then given about 30 minutes of class time to continue identifying and coloring a plant and an animal cell packet.  

Assignments:  The coloring plant and animal cell packet is due on Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were working with chapter 6 and reviewing the rules of and use of exponents.  Today, after grading our homework from the weekend, students were continuing to work with exponential functions.  Students reviewed exponential growth functions, and were given the formula for working with exponential decay functions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from section 6.4 from the textbook pages 319-320 #22-28,44, 54 to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were continuing to work with expressions.  We were continuing to evaluate and simplify expressions.  Students reviewed the vocabulary words (terms of an expression; Like Terms; Coefficients; Constants) and began identifying and simplifying expressions with instructor support in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #33 is due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were continuing to work with expressions.  We were continuing to evaluate and simplify expressions.  Students also defined several key vocabulary words in class today.
Assignments:  Students can expect a quiz on expressions on Friday in class. 

Science:  Students began science class today with the Do Now.  Next, students got into their Local Ecology Project groups, and we went outside to collect our January data at our established plots behind the school.

Assignments:  The section 1.1 worksheet, Discovering Cells, is due on Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were working with chapter 6 and reviewing the rules of and use of exponents.  Today, after grading our homework from Tuesday (6.3 Practice A WS), students were continuing to work with exponential functions.  Students were continuing to graph exponential functions.  Students were also introduced to how to write an exponential function when given a graph or a set of data points.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the explorations for section 6.4 from the practice workbook (pages 183-185), to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were continuing to work with expressions.  We were evaluating and simplifying expressions, where students were given values for x and y variables, and asked to simplify an expression.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were asked to complete practice workbook page 43 as homework for class on Thursday.

Assignments:  Practice workbook page 43 is due on Thursday in class.  Review Homework #32 is due on Thursday. 

Science:  Students began science class today with the Do Now.  Next, students were reading to learn about the discovery of cells.  After reading section one (chapter one) from the textbook, students were given the remaining 15 minutes of class to complete the section 1.1 worksheet, which will be due on Thursday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were working with chapter 6 and reviewing the rules of and use of exponents.  Today, after grading our homework from the weekend (TB p.310-311), students were continuing to work with exponential functions.  Students were continuing to graph exponential functions.  Students were also introduced to how to account for the a values, h values and k values of a given function.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the 6.3 Practice A worksheet as homework, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were working with chapter 6 and reviewing the rules of and use of exponents.  Students were taking the quiz that was scheduled for last Friday (snow day!) in class today.  We reviewed the homework, (workbook pages 173-174 for section 6.2) before students took that quiz.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were back in chapter 2.  Today, students took a quiz that we were going to take last Friday (snow day!).

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 6 and reviewing the rules of and use of exponents.  We did a few activities together in class, where students were refreshing their memories of PEMDAS as well as scientific notation.  Students were then assigned some homework from their practice workbook, pages 167-169, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were back in chapter 2, section 2 and section 4.  Today, students were reviewing their knowledge of adding, subtracting as well as multiplying and dividing integers and rational numbers.  Students were given class time to complete a worksheet on the rules of working with rational numbers, and well as practice problems applying these rules with fractions and decimals.

Assignments:  Review Homework #28 is due on Wednesday in class. 

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to working with compound light microscopes.  After a bit of teacher led instruction, students participated in an online microscope activity, designed to introduce the parts of a microscope as well as how to use the microscope.
