7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into isometrics and perspective.  Today was the final day for working on the Isometric Dream House project.  It was due at the end of the class period.  
Assignments:  None.    

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to adding and subtracting Unlike Fractions.  Today students reviewed and worked with multiplying fractions and mixed numbers.  

Assignments:  Students should be completing the multiplying fractions worksheet we began in class today. 

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued learning about the climate change debate.  Today, students continued researching questions related to the global climate change debate.  

Assignments:  Student should be researching their three chosen questions concerning the global climate change debate that are due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into isometrics and perspective.  Students are (or should be) transferring their dream house rough drafts onto white paper in order to begin polishing their final products. Thursday is the due date for the Isometric Dream House Project. 

Assignments:  Study Island Review HW #30 is due by 3pm on Thursday.     

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to adding and subtracting Unlike Fractions.  Today students created foldables in order to help them remember how to add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators and mixed numbers.   

Assignments:  The foldable we began in class is due on Thursday in class. 

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued learning about the climate change debate.  Today, students began researching questions related to the global climate change debate.  

Assignments:  Student can be researching their three chosen questions concerning the global climate change debate.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into isometrics and perspective.  Students are (or should be) transferring their dream house rough drafts onto larger isometric dot paper, before tracing the dream house onto white paper to begin polishing their final products.  The final drafts are due at the end of class on Thursday May 22.    

Assignments:  Study Island Review HW #30 is due by 3pm on Thursday.     

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to adding and subtracting Unlike Fractions.  Today students began working with multiplying fractions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 5.4 worksheet (odds and word problems only) and given the last 15 minutes of class time to get started.  

Assignments:  The Review HW #24 is due Wednesday in class. The section 5.4 worksheet (odds and word problems only) is due Wednesday in class.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued learning about the climate change debate.  Today, students finished up watching the "Great Global Warming Swindle".

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into isometric dream house project.  Students spent todays class period completing their surface area and volume calculations, before transferring their rough drafts to larger isometric dot paper. 

Assignments:  Study Island Review HW #30 is due by 3pm on Thursday.     

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to adding and subtracting Unlike Fractions.  We reviewed the differences between like and unlike fractions, before students were introduced to multiplying fractions.  Students wrote the words for the rules of multiplying fractions before practicing a few problems. 

Assignments:  The Review HW #24 is due Wednesday in class.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued learning about the two sides of the climate change debate.  Last week, students watched the film "An Inconvenient Truth" and this week students are watching "The Great Global Warming Swindle."  Students will be taking notes on each side of the issue and later in the week, they will be choosing a side and then researching evidence to support their claims.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into isometrics and perspective.  Students then participated in a surface area and volume activity designed to prepare them for calculating the surface area and volume for their "dream house."  Students were given the rest of the class period to work on their designs and sketches.  

Assignments:  Study Island Review HW #29 is due by 3pm on Friday.     

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to adding and subtracting Unlike Fractions.  We reviewed the differences between like and unlike fractions, as well as how to identify each type of fraction, before we ran out of class time.

Assignments:  The Review HW #23 is due Friday in class.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in our bridge breaking competition.     

Assignments:  Students should be completing the balsa wood bridge project self evaluation if they did not complete it during the class time given to them.  It is due Thursday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students were given class time to complete the section 5.2 worksheet on adding and subtracting LIKE fractions.

Assignments:  The Review HW #22 is due Wednesday in class. The section 5.2 worksheet (odds only) is due Wednesday in class. 

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in our bridge breaking competition with Floyd Dryden students.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into isometrics and perspective.  Students were introduced to the Isometric Dream House project today.  They were given the minimum requirements and any questions were asked and answered.  Students were then given the rest of class to begin brainstorming ideas for their "dream house." 

Assignments:  Study Island Review HW #28 is due by 3pm on Wednesday.     

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students reviewed converting fractions to decimals and vise versa, before we practiced comparing fractions by finding the LCD as well as converting said fractions into decimals in order to compare which was larger. We then completed taking notes on adding mixed numbers and fractions containing variables (with like denominators).  

Assignments:  The Review HW #22 is due Wednesday in class. 

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students competed and finalized their bridges in preparation for the bridge competition scheduled for Tuesday morning.   

Tuesday May 13th, from 9am -11am will be the bridge competition with Floyd Dryden in the DHMS commons.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into isometrics and perspective.  Students reviewed oblique and isometric perspectives and discussed the differences between each view, before they participated in an activity designed to help them see those differences at work.  Students were handed some Linking Cubes and asked to build several shapes and then to draw those shapes on isometric dot paper.  

Assignments:  None.   

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students reviewed converting fractions to decimals and vise versa, before we practiced comparing fractions by finding the LCD as well as converting said fractions into decimals in order to compare which was larger.

Assignments:  Review homework #27 on Study Island is due by the end of the day on Thursday.   

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students took the MAPs math assessment in class.    

Assignments:  Review HW #21 is due Wednesday in class. The section 5.1 worksheet (front side only) is due Thursday in class.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued building their bridges.  Students are now at the point of gluing their truss designs together so they can dry over night, in order to continue with the next phase of building on Thursday in class.  Friday is the final work day for completing the bridges. 

Tuesday May 13th, from 9am -11am will be the bridge competition with Floyd Dryden in the DHMS commons.  

Assignments:  Students should be finalizing their truss models in order to complete their bridges by Friday of this week.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students completed the chapter 10 test, before students returned their at home text books to the library.  Students were then introduced to isometrics and the different perspectives of viewing a three dimensional object. 

Students will be taking the Math MAPs test on Wednesday in class.  
 
Assignments:  Review homework #27 on Study Island is due by the end of the day on Thursday.   

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working with chapter 5 and rational numbers (fractions).  We spent some time reviewing the parts of a fraction, as well as how to convert whole numbers and mixed numbers into improper fractions. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems of converting repeating decimals into fractions, students were assigned the front side of the section 5.1 worksheet.  

Students will be taking the Math MAPs test on Wednesday in class.     

Assignments:  Review HW #21 is due Wednesday in class.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued talking about and learning about bridge designs.  Today students began measuring and cutting the wood for their bridges.  Once wood was measured and cut, students then began pinning the wood on their graph paper templates in order to glue all of the joints. 

Assignments:  Students should be finalizing their truss models in order to complete their bridges by Friday of this week.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students graded their homework from section 10.7 before they were introduced to finding the volume of pyramids and cones.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 10.8 worksheet as homework, due Friday in class. The chapter 10 test will be on Monday of next week.

Assignments:  Review homework #26 on Study Island is due by the end of the day on Friday. The section 10.8 worksheet is due Friday in class.     

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students began working on the chapter 4 test.    

Assignments:  Review HW #20 is due Friday in class.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued talking about and learning about bridge designs.  Today students continued working on their bridge blueprints, in order to be sure they will have enough supplies to complete their designs. Students should be nearing the end of the design process, in order to start building their bridges by next week.

Assignments:  Students should be finalizing their truss designs sketches for their Balsa Wood Bridge.
