8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then introduced to chapter 7 and square roots.  Students were given time in class to work on the Chapter 7 Fair Game Review activity in their practice workbooks, before we jumped into a lesson how to identify a perfect square as well as how to use the square root function on a calculator.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned workbook page 146 to be due Friday in class. 

Assignments:  Review HW #60 is due Friday in class.  Workbook page 146 is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were given class time to work on their Fraction Finding Mission projects. 

Assignments:  Review HW #60 is due Friday in class.  The Fraction Finding Mission project has a due date of Friday May 20th.  Workbook page 218 is due Friday in class.
  
Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Students then continued working on The Great Paper Roller Coaster Project.  Students began class by discussing as a group what work needs to be completed today in class, before assigning each group member some responsibilities to accomplish during today's class period.  Most groups began finalizing their groups' roller coaster frames built last week in class.  

Completed Roller Coasters are due in class on Friday of this week.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to zero and negative exponents.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples of each type of problem, students were asked to complete workbook page 218 for class on Thursday.  

Assignments:  Review HW #59 is due Wednesday in class. The practice workbook page 218 is due Thursday in class.  The Fraction Finding Mission project has a due date of Friday May 20th.

Students can expect the Chapter 6 Test on Wednesday of this week.

Assignments:  Review HW #59 is due Wednesday in class.  The chapter 6 test will be Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were given a work day towards completing their Fraction Finding Missions (due on Friday of this week).

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  We then transitioned back into chapter 6.  Next, students reviewed being able to identify linear and nonlinear patterns.  Students were then introduced to analyzing and describing given graphs, as well as how to sketch a graph of a given scenario.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned to complete the section 6.5 worksheet from the practice workbook, to be due Tuesday in class.

Students can expect the Chapter 6 Test on Wednesday of this week.

Assignments:  Review HW #59 is due Wednesday in class.  The Section 6.5 worksheet (page 140 of the practice workbook) is due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued working with exponents.  Today students were introduced to finding and using the rules of multiplying powers and finding  powers of powers.  After some teacher led instruction and direction, students were assigned and given class time to complete practice workbook pages 207-210, as well as pages 211-214 on the rules of dividing exponents, to be due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #59 is due Tuesday in class.  The practice workbook pages 207-210 and pages 211-214 are due Wednesday in class.  The Fraction Finding Mission project has a due date of Friday May 20th.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to working with exponents.  We spent time working through the chapter 10 section 1 activities and the practice worksheet in the practice workbook.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Students then continued working on The Great Paper Roller Coaster Project.  Students began class by discussing as a group how they envision their roller coaster to look as we begin to attach the features they have been creating all week.   Groups then continued putting together the features for their groups roller coasters.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.   Students then completed their chapter 5 tests.  We then transitioned back into chapter 6.  Students reviewed working with relations, functions and mapping diagrams and how they are used with data sets.  Next, students began working with being able to identify linear and nonlinear patterns.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned to complete the section 6.4 activities in their practice workbooks, pages 133-136, to be due Thursday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #58 is due Friday in class.  Practice workbook pages 133-136 (section 6.4 activities) are due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to their end of the year math project, the Fraction Finding Mission.  Students will be creating equations with answers equaling -10 through +10 using only rational numbers.  There is also a creative component of this project, that will have students creating an artistic aspect of their final equations.  Once students got the run down of the project expectations, they were given the remaining 20 minutes of class to begin formulating a plan of attack.  

Assignments:  Review HW #58 is due Friday in class.
  
Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Students then continued working on The Great Paper Roller Coaster Project.  Students are now working in assigned groups and today all groups completed their roller coaster foundations.  Groups then continued putting together the features for their groups roller coasters.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students spent the class period reviewing and going over the formulas for the volume of cylinders.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Students then continued working on The Great Paper Roller Coaster Project.  Students are now working in assigned groups and today all groups completed their roller coaster foundations.  Some groups began putting together the features for their groups roller coasters.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.   Students then completed their chapter 5 tests.  We then transitioned into chapter 6.  Students were introduced to relations, functions and mapping diagrams and how they are used with data sets.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned workbook page 124, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7 and students reviewed some important rules associated with converting repeating decimals into fractions.  We then began talking about "converses," in relation to the Pythagorean Theorem.  Students were struggling with the concept of using the converse of a true statement, so we spent most of the class period clarifying how to write if, then statements

Assignments:  Review HW #55 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook pages 159-160 as well as the section 7.4 practice worksheet, to be due Tuesday in class. 
  
Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Students then continued working on The Great Paper Roller Coaster Project.  Students are mass producing the paper products that each group will need as we move into building these roller coasters next week.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.   Students then completed their chapter 5 tests.  We then transitioned into chapter 6.  Students completed the Chapter 6 Fair Game Review activity in their practice workbooks, before we reviewed solving simple one step equations with decimals and fractions, before students were assigned workbook page 121, to be due on Tuesday in class. 

Assignments:  Review HW #55 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook page 121 is due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped into chapter 7 and students were introduced to writing repeating decimals as fractions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned workbook pages 159-160 as well as the section 7.4 practice worksheet, to be due Tuesday in class.
