Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 4.  Students spent todays class period clarifying the rules to identifying, writing and graphing piecewise functions.  Next, students were handed a chapter 4 test review sheet, and given the remaining time in class to begin preparing for the chapter 4 test scheduled for Friday of this week.  

Assignments:  Students are taking the chapter 4 test on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 3. Next, we reviewed our knowledge of finding GCFs and factor trees and prime factorization.  Students then spent the class period finding the difference between expressions.  

Assignments: Review Homework #25 is due on Friday in class.  Students can expect a quiz on Friday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned into finding some understanding of the scientific meaning of "work."  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were handed a worksheet and asked to work with a partner to complete several questions.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 4 and section 6.  Students began with a lesson on identifying, writing and graphing piecewise functions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some work from the text book pages 222/223, #3-17 odds, 23 & 27, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 3. Next, we reviewed our knowledge of finding GCFs and factor trees and prime factorization.  After some example problems, students then took their knowledge of GCFs and began factoring linear expressions.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned three (3) problems of linear expressions and asked to factor out the GCF for class on Thursday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 4 and section 6.  Students began by reviewing how to identify and write arithmetic sequences. Next, students were also reviewing how to graph absolute value functions as well as working with simple and compound inequalities.  Students were then assigned some work from the practice workbook, pages 126-127 & 129, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 3. Next, we reviewed our knowledge of finding GCFs and factor trees and prime factorization.  After completing some in class work, students completed their work with The Sieve of Eratosthenes, where students are identifying the prime numbers between 1 and 100. 

Assignments: Review Homework #24 is due on Wednesday in class.  Students were also assigned the section 3.2 practice A worksheet, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a class discussion on matter and chemical and physical changes of matter.  Students were given class time to complete the section 1.1 worksheet on Describing Matter.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 3.  Students were introduced to the difference between an expression and an equation.  After a bit of class room instruction from Mr. Olsen, students were given some class time to begin working on workbook page 43, which is due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students finished defining the 30 chemistry vocabulary words they will be expected to memorize over the next 4 days.  Students were given a grade for the completed worksheet today in class.  Students were then given the remaining class time to complete their 30 flashcards and to begin the memorization process. 

The Vocabulary quiz on these 30 words will be on Thursday of this week.

Assignments:  Students should be coming to class on Tuesday with the 30 vocabulary words on Flashcards.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students finished defining the 30 chemistry vocabulary words they will be expected to memorize over the next 10 days.  Once students finished defining the vocab words, they were handed a stack of 30 notecards to make flashcards to help them with the memorization process.  

Assignments:  Students should be coming to class on Monday with the 30 vocabulary words defined on the worksheet provided.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 2 and rational numbers.  Students then spent the class period completing the chapter 2 review from the text book, as the chapter 2 test is scheduled for Tuesday in class.

Assignments: Review Homework #20 is due on Wednesday.  The chapter 2 test will be Tuesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to the chemistry unit by taking some notes on scientific vocabulary presented in class.  Students completed a note-taking guide while following along on a powerpoint presentation during class.

Assignments:  Students should be completing the note-taking guide if they didn't finish in the class time provided.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 3 and working with functions.  Mr. Olsen reminded students of our  lesson on horizontal and vertical stretches and shrinks.  Today students were describing and graphing linear equations with multiple transformations.  We practiced several problems together in class, identifying the presentation format and what clues to look for when deciding what type of transformation is occurring within the given problem based on the values of a, h and/or k. Students were then assigned practice workbook page 94 as homework, to be due on Friday in class.

The Chapter 3 test is scheduled for Monday 11/6/2017.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 2 and rational numbers.  Students then were learning to multiply and divide rational numbers.  We reviewed the rules for multiplying and dividing with integers, as the same rules apply when multiplying and dividing rational numbers.  Next, we practiced several example problems together as a group, before students were assigned the rest of practice workbook page 40 #4-10 to be due on Friday in class.
