Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 2 and inequalities.  After a quick review on solving absolute value equations, students jumped into section 6 on solving absolute value inequalities.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 91 #1; 2; 3-17 odds; 20; 23-27odds, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 2 test on Wednesday (10/2/19) of this week.

7th Grade Math: Students began math class with the Do Now and a problem of the day.  Next, students worked with their Flashmasters.  Students reviewed the concept of subtracting integers, by rewriting the problem as an addition problem by adding the opposite of the second term (or third term) of the problem and then using the rules we learned for adding integers as well as reviewing the rules for multiplying integers.  Next, we began learning the rules for dividing integers.  Same signs = positive value; Different signs = negative value.  Students should have completed practice workbook page 20 in class today, and the homework was practice workbook page 22, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 1 test on Wednesday in class.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #10 is due on Wednesday in class.  Practice workbook page 22 is due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued working on memorizing our 30 vocabulary words.  Students participated in an review activity today in class in preparation for the vocabulary test on this Friday in class.
Assignments: Students can continue working on memorizing the 30 vocabulary words for the test on Friday.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 2 and inequalities.  After a quick review on solving inequalities through addition, subtraction, multiplication and or division as well as multi-step inequalities, students took a quiz on working with inequalities.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 2 and inequalities.  After a quick review on solving inequalities through addition, subtraction, multiplication and or division as well as multi-step inequalities, students were introduced to compound inequalities.  Students had a brief introduction to compound inequalities, before being assigned pages 48-49 and page 51 #1-5 of the practice workbook as homework, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students took the first twenty minutes of class to complete their chapter 1 tests.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 2 and inequalities.  After some teacher led instruction on solving inequalities using addition and subtraction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, pages 77-78 #1; 2; 13-16; 22-28 evens; 32; 33; 34; 35; 37; 41-43, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began math class with the Do Now and a problem of the day.  Next, students worked with their Flashmasters.  Students reviewed the concept of adding integers.  Then we continued learning about how to subtract integers.  We subtract integers by converting each problem to an addition problem by adding the opposite of the second term and using the rules we have learned for adding integers.  After a quick review, students were handed the section 1.3 Practice B worksheet and given about 25 minutes in class to work on that.

Assignments:  Review Homework #8 is due on Wednesday in class.  The section 1.3 Practice B worksheet is due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students finalized  an elevational profile of the Wolverine Trail that we collected data on last week. 
 
Assignments: Students who did not complete their elevation profile of the Wolverine Trail in class should be completing it as homework and turning it in on Tuesday.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students took the chapter 1 test.  We ran out of class time, so students were given lunch time to continue working on it, and students will also have 20 minutes of class time on Wednesday to finish.

7th Grade Math: Students began math class with the Do Now and a problem of the day.  Next, students worked with their Flashmasters.  Students were then working with understanding the concept of adding integers.  Students reviewed the rules for adding or subtracting integers, and then did practice workbook pages 8-10 in class.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were handed back their final quiz from chapter 1, and given time to go over answers and ask any clarifying questions.  Students were then handed a chapter 1 review activity sheet and given the last 30 minutes of class to work through problems, work together and/or ask Mr. Olsen for help along the way.  The chapter test will be on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  The chapter 1 Test is scheduled for Tuesday September 17.

Students can expect a quiz on chapter 1 on Friday in class.  The chapter 1 Test is scheduled for Tuesday September 17.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students completed a google classroom assignment (the Scientific Summer Self Evaluation) in class, before we held a Scientific Summer "Gallery Walk" activity.  Students were given about 20 minutes of class time to move around the room to browse everyone else's work and complete a short survey regarding what they thought about the work of their peers.  

Assignments: Some students may be needing to complete their Scientific Summer Self Evaluation google classroom assignment if they did not finish in the class time provided.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students graded their homework from Tuesday.  We then transitioned into having a class discussion on the importance of repetition and how repetition helps the brain learn new information.  We watched a video that helped support the claim that repetition is important to learning, before we began talking about absolute value.  Students were assigned some homework from their practice workbooks, pages 17-18, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began math class with the Do Now and a problem of the day.  Next, students worked with their Flashmasters.  Students were then learning about note-taking and Cornell Notes.  We then took notes on the different number systems used throughout time, including our currently used number system, the Hindu-Arabic Number system.  

Assignments:  Students can expect a quiz on Friday in class on whole number operations.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were given class time to continue working on their Scientific Summer paragraphs and other details important to their final products.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students graded their homework from Tuesday.  We then transitioned back into section 1.3 on solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign and scenarios that include no solutions, multiple solutions and one solution, and how to identify those situations.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book, pages 23-24 #19-29 all, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began math class with the Do Now and a problem of the day.  Next, students worked with their Flashmaster and were learning the routine for each day moving forward.  Students were assigned one challenge math problem as homework, and are expected to come to class on Thursday with that assigned equation completed.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students joined our science Google classroom, where the Scientific Summer assignment has been uploaded for all students.  Students were given the class period to begin writing the rough drafts of the first paragraph for the assignment today in class.

Algebra I:  Students began math class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students graded their homework from the weekend.  Next, we transitioned into section 1.3 on solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 1.3 Practice B worksheet, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began math class with the Do Now and a problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to their assigned Flashmaster machine, and given about 20 minutes of class time to explore the machine and practice a few activities.  Students will be using their assigned Flashmaster everyday moving forward.  Next, students were given the remaining time in class to continue working on their pre course assessment.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #3 is due on Thursday in class.  The pre course assessment will be due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students compared the temperature data we collected last week in class, on a bar graph and answered a few discussion questions related to surface temperature variation by location.  Next, students were introduced to their first science project, the Scientific Summer project.  Students should be coming to class on Wednesday with a summer activity they participated in chosen to begin creating a poster product in class.

Assignments: Students should be completing their bar graphs and answering the discussion questions from our Surface Temperature activity we completed in class.
