8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  This morning, students jumped back into chapter 6 and are learning how to solve proportions using the cross products property.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 6.3 WS (odds) as homework, to be due Thursday in class.  As a reminder, the test for the FFM is scheduled for May 8th.    
 
Assignments:  Review HW #50 is due Friday in class.  The section 6.3 WS (odds) is due on Friday in class.  Students should be continuing the memorization for their Fraction Finding Mission.  

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working in chapter 6 and integers.  Today, students continued working with the properties of addition and multiplication, as well as learning about the identity properties and inverse properties.  Students were then introduced to the distributive property.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples we ran out of class time.

Assignments:  Review HW #50 is due Friday in class.  

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students got back with their assigned body system partner and groups were given time in the computer lab to finalize their research, and to begin putting together their presentations on Google Slides or the powerpoint program.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working in chapter 6 and integers.  Students reviewed the difference between positive and negative integers, as well as how to use a number line to help in their understanding of an integer and its opposite.  Today, students continued working with the properties of addition and multiplication, as well as learning about the identity properties and inverse properties.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 6.6 WS as homework, to be due Thursday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  This morning, students jumped into chapter 6 and began learning about ratios and unit rates.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 6.1 WS (odds) as homework, to be due Wednesday in class.  As a reminder, the test for the FFM is scheduled for May 8th.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working in chapter 6 and integers.  Students reviewed the difference between positive and negative integers, as well as how to use a number line to help in their understanding of an integer and its opposite.  Today, students continued to work with  rational numbers, irrational numbers and the differences between them and how to identify them in an expression or equation. Students were also introduced to the commutative and associative properties of addition and multiplication. 

Assignments:  Review HW #49 is due Wednesday in class.  

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, Ms. Villanueva's students were given class time to continue researching their assigned body system with their partners.  Mr. Olsen's students had a guest visitor from the Green's Creek Mine in the classroom to go over safety concerns and a general overview of our field trip scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday April 28th) to Admiralty Island and the Hecla Greens Creek Mine.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  This morning, our school had a practice evacuation drill, and it took place from 845am and lasted until after 930am.  Thus students reviewed the expectations of the Fraction Finding Mission and were then given time to review their foldables to help students begin the memorization process.  As a reminder, the test for the FFM is scheduled for May 8th.    
 
Assignments:  Review HW #48 is due Friday in class.  Students should be continuing the memorization for their Fraction Finding Mission.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students got back with their LEP groups, and we went outside to our one meter square plots to take some data and make observations to aid in the upcoming iMovie project.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students reviewed the expectations of the Fraction Finding Mission and we then built foldables to help students begin the memorization process.  As a reminder, the test for the FFM is scheduled for May 8th.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working in chapter 6 and integers.  Students reviewed the difference between positive and negative integers, as well as how to use a number line to help in their understanding of an integer and its opposite.  Today, students continued to work with dividing integers, and the rules associated with same and different signs.  Students also began converting temperatures between Fahrenheit and Celsius and vise versa.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 6.5 WS #1-15, to be due Thursday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #48 is due Friday in class.  Students were assigned the section 6.5 WS #16-34, to be due Thursday in class.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students moved into the next unit/topic in science, the human body.  Today students were filling in a packet based on the information we read as a class on Tuesday.  Students also completed a survey concerning our next project in science, the Human Body Quest.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students completed their chapter 5 test in class today.  Students were also introduced to the Fraction Finding Mission.  Students will be responsible for learning and memorizing 17 commonly used fractions and their decimal and percentage equivalents by May 8th.    
 
Assignments:  Review HW #47 is due Wednesday in class.  Students should be beginning the memorization for their Fraction Finding Mission.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working in chapter 6 and integers.  Students reviewed the difference between positive and negative integers, as well as how to use a number line to help in their understanding of an integer and its opposite.  Today, students were introduced to multiplying integers, and the rules associated with same and different signs.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 6.4 WS, to be due Tuesday in class.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students moved into the next unit/topic in science, the human body.  Today students worked with a partner to label and identify as many bones, parts, organs, and systems as they could by sketching an outline of a human body and drawing in and labeling as much as possible.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and we spent the class period reviewing fractions operations.  Students began the review process for the chapter 5 test, scheduled for Monday morning (April 20th) by participating in Fraction Jeopardy.  Students will be continuing the review process on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working in chapter 6 and integers.  Students reviewed the difference between positive and negative integers, as well as how to use a number line to help in their understanding of an integer and its opposite.  Today, students were introduced to subtracting integers, by rewriting the expression as an addition problem and adding the opposite.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 6.3 WS, to be due Friday in class.

Students continued to work with solving equations by clearing the fractions using the LCD (least common denominator).  Students were also introduced to clearing decimals by using place value as their guide.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 5.7 WS (odds), to be due Thursday in class.

Students continued to work with solving equations by clearing the fractions using the LCD (least common denominator).  Students were also introduced to clearing decimals by using place value as their guide.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework problems from the text book, page 256 #18 - 26, to be due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working in chapter 6 and integers.  Students reviewed the difference between positive and negative integers, as well as how to use a number line to help in their understanding of an integer and its opposite.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were introduced to a song, based on Row Row Row Your Boat, to help them remember how to add and subtract integers based on their signs.  

Assignments:  Review HW #45 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were assigned to sing the Integer Song they learned in class to a parent, guardian or other adult in their home lives.  Parents, please write a brief note to confirm you student sang this song to you!!

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued learning about and working with vertebrates.  Today students were familiarizing themselves with the internal anatomy of a frog, through reading through some background information, defining the key organs they will be expected to identify during the dissection activity, and labeling the internal organs of a frog on a diagram.  Students will be dissecting a frog beginning on Wednesday in class.  
   
Assignments:   Students should be continuing to familiarizing themselves with the internal anatomy of a frog for the upcoming frog dissection activity scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and we quickly reviewed how to multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers.   After we graded the homework from Tuesday evening (page 245 #2-24) students were introduced to solving equations with fractions by using the multiplicative inverse.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned problems out of the text book in order to help gain a better understanding of the solving equations using the multiplicative inverse concept.  Page 249 #11-17 (odds) and #21-27 (odds), are due Thursday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and we quickly reviewed how to multiply fractions and mixed numbers.  We then graded the 5.5 WS on dividing fractions, and we realized that students needed more instruction and practice time with this concept.  So, students were assigned problems out of the text book in order to help gain a better understanding of the dividing fractions concept.  Page 245 #2-24 (evens), is due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and began the review process for the chapter 5 test scheduled for Thursday of this week.  Students were handed a chapter 5 review activity and given about 25 minutes of class time to get started and Mr. Olsen available to help if needed.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began learning about mollusks.  We read the section on Mollusks together as a class out of the Animals text book and students were handed a review worksheet, that will be due Wednesday in class.
