Thursday March 29, 2018

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  We then jumped into chapter 8 and continued our discussion of graphing quadratic functions.  Today students were introduced to vertex form and graphing quadratic functions presented in vertex form.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 446 #5-25 odds, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students reviewed the practice problems we completed on Wednesday, and began working on some proportion problems in order to prepare for the upcoming PEAKs assessment scheduled for next Thursday.  

Assignments: Review HW #49 is due on Friday in class.  Students can and should be studying their fractions, decimals and percents for the test on April 13th.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students participated in a group discussion on appeals in advertising.  Students defined Ethos, Pathos, and Logos, before we began looking at advertisements and deciding which type of persuasion was being utilized in the ad.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  We then jumped into chapter 8 and continued our discussion of graphing quadratic functions.  Today students were exploring horizontal translations of a given quadratic function.  Students were given class time to work through the section 8.4 practice workbook activities on pages 260 & 261.  

Assignments:  Students were assigned the section 8.4 practice workbook activities on pages 260 & 261, to be due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students were working on practice problems in order to prepare for the upcoming PEAKs assessment scheduled for next Thursday.  

Assignments: Review HW #49 is due on Friday in class.  Students can and should be studying their fractions, decimals and percents for the test on April 13th.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students completed an open note quiz on Ionic and Covalent bonds.  Students then began the review process for the chemistry unit test scheduled for April 12th.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  We then jumped into chapter 8 and continued our discussion of graphing quadratic functions.  Today students were learning how the bx and the c term in f(x) = ax(2) + bx + c affects the graph of the parent function.   After a bit of teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 436-437 #3-6; 7; 9; 11; 12; 13-17 odds; 21-25 odds and 29, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 436-437 #3-6; 7; 9; 11; 12; 13-17 odds; 21-25 odds and 29, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to a 4th quarter short term learning goal.  Students will be responsible for learning and memorizing 17 commonly used fractions and their decimal and percent equivalents.  April 13th is the date of the test for this short term learning goal.  We also spent some class time going over sample questions to help students prepare for the upcoming PEAKs assessment scheduled for next week.  

Assignments: Review HW #48 is due on Wednesday in class.  Students should be coming into class on Wednesday with their fraction, decimal and percent equivalents completed.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students celebrated Pi Day by participating in several activities designed to help them understand the relationship of the circumference and the diameter of a circle.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students were introduced to ionic bonds.  We spent some time talking about why these bonds occur and what elements will participate in ionic bonding.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 6 and converting fractions to decimals and percents and vise versa.  After a bit of teacher led instruction, and several examples problems, students were given class time to begin working on the section 6.1 Practice A worksheet, which will be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments: Review HW #46 is due on Wednesday in class.  The section 6.1 Practice A worksheet is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students we graded our Periodic Table Basics quiz.  Next, students were introduced to element bonding.  Students filled in a data table based on valance electrons and assigning each element on the table an oxidation number.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Students then completed a few practice problems, before being given the rest of class time to continue reviewing for the chapter 7 test scheduled for Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students were given class time to continuing reviewing for the chapter 5 test scheduled for Friday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students were then given class time to complete their Basic Periodic Table project.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  We then continued our discussion on factoring polynomials.  After a bit of teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book and section 7.8, page 407 #8; 10; 15-23 odds; 28; 36, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to direct variation.  After a bit of teacher led instruction on how to identify direct variation, and several examples problems, students were given class time to begin working on workbook page 110.  Page 110 will be due on Thursday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 5 test on Friday in class.  

Assignments: Review HW #45 is due on Friday in class.  Workbook page 110 is due Thursday in class.  

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students were then given class time to continue filling in the information cards that they will then cut out and glue onto poster paper tomorrow in class.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  We then continued our discussion on factoring polynomials.  After a bit of teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book and section 7.7, page 401 #2-8 and #9-21 odds and 25-29 odds, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to direct variation.  After a bit of teacher led instruction on how to identify direct variation, students were given class time to complete the practice workbook activities we didn't finish on Monday on pages 108 and 109 during class.  

Assignments: Review HW #44 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students continued working with Bohr Diagrams and Lewis Structures, both methods of displaying information about electrons of a given element.  Students were then introduced to their next activity, The Periodic Table Basics poster project.  After some teacher led instruction, students were filling in a practice guiding worksheet, students were then given class time to begin filling in the information cards that they will then cut out and glue onto poster paper tomorrow in class.  

Assignments: Students should be coming into class on Wednesday with their element cards completed.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to direct variation.  After a bit of teacher led instruction, students were given class time to complete the practice workbook activities on pages 107-108 during class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students were learning about Bohr Diagrams and Lewis Structures, both methods of displaying information about electrons of a given element.  After some teacher led instruction, students were filling in a practice guiding worksheet, modeling electrons for different elements with both Bohr Diagrams and Lewis structures.
